I'm guessing they did very poorly indeed.  But over the playoffs, I imagine they did quite well. 

find it interesting that Vegas encountered a loss on a line that was set to give them protection...possible even money on each team

This isnt a direct answer to the initial post but it doesn't matter all that much if Vegas wins or loses. Sportsbook revenue is a very small portion of casino profits. What they lose in a bad (for them) weekend of NFL bets, they can make back in a couple hours of busy table play.

Vegas will win because they have a house edge. The juice is their edge in sports.

Vegas won NOT lost, according to Nevada State Gaming Control Board.

Superbowl betting makes up about 3.4% of all money bet on sports in Nevada yearly. Vegas made a profit, shocker.  Here is an actual number...

Vegas did OK. Millions bet on Florida State in college baskets that day and they got blown out by North Carolina. Half the super bowl bettors in Vegas were on basketball losers during the day. Also, prop bettors lost a small fortune to the books, although the Over/under bet on Aguilera's National Anthem is in dispute at many books. It could be a no bet in some places.
