I was just watching the netflix episode about tim donaghy.

Story is known to all, but just one thing i didnt get as i am not an american and maybe it is different at the states:

Why was he charged (and admitted) with "wire fraud"? 

I tried to read wikipedia about wire fraud, and i do not see how this relates. He did not try to fraud people over the internet or such.

GAmbling, fixing etc... yes we know.

Or does it relate to the charge that he fraud the NBA? Because he didn't steal money from the NBA.

So if someone can clarify for me what he was actually charged for, what's behind the "wire fraud"..?

Maybe he was using electronics to relay the picks or was using some sort of electronic device to imput bets 

The NBA didn't want to get involved in any trial . They basically told the FBI what to charge him with and swept it under the rug

Anyone saying games aren't fixed are just flat out ignorant to the world .

He used a phone to call out the picks.

Its crazy refs relations or lack there of with coaches or players were enough to pick winners

Read Donaghys book and he was always adamant that he didnt fix that he just knew tendencies and stuff. Even if he didnt "fix" what he did was still illegal cuz he had "inside knowledge" on the games.

Does he admit to fixing in the documentary or is he still saying he never fixed?
