If they did for a homefield advantage to make opposing teams deal with the adverse conditions, fine. Otherwise, give the fans a break!

That's why I like the NBA as well. All indoors, temp controlled, no weather-related delays. Yes please.

Haha, it was awesome! I had my coat pockets and shoes stuffed with warmers and my belly warmed with whisky.

Actually we watched the 2nd half & OT up in a luxury box, and we agreed it was much more fun out in the elements with the People!! If you're up in a box, you may as well watch on TV.

The previous game I saw at TCF was Brett Favre's final game. Pretty sure it was wayyy under zero that night.  Crazy but a memorable experience.

No thanks . I'll need more than whiskey to get warm.

But the luxury boxes with TV's and the game right outside the window is quite the conundrum.

"austin rivers has another huge game" - he didn't have a huge game in game 5, as expected (2 points). And still the clippers came within a goaltend of winning it. He'll give more than 2 this game just like he gave more in the Game 4 victory.

"Clippers are demoralized" - if anything we would to back the clips off a loss not a win, like we do all year in the regular season in various situational spots. We get that spot here no matter how brutal the previous loss was. And remember that loss was not an Allen 3 (I.e. The other team did you in). You screwed yourselves. You literally put the L in the final score. That leaves the door open for redemption and doesn't eliminate any and all confidence levels.

In addition that game 7 intensity from the Clips you wanted in game 5 will be here in full force in game 6. The Spurs know they are more than capable of beating the clips at home even if they lose this one, while the clips go home for good if they lose. It provides more impetus for one team to leave it all on the floor in an elimination game.

No one thought Dallas could take the Spurs to 7 last year. And that Spurs team was superior to this one. And that dallas team had nowhere near the clippers level of talent.

Spurs needed a 1-9 blake fourth (awful) and s goaltend to steal one in LA (and 7-16 FT's from Jordan to boot). Neither will happen again (although I have no idea how jordan will shoot but I'll only concede "slightly better" since the loss was on him). Add you get a CP3 who can light up the scoreboard at any moment and I want no part of 5/5.5 points being laid here.

This is a fully healthy, fully motivated clipper team with a new owner in a season after Sterling-gate partially derailed their previous year. To not get to a game 7 at a minimum would be an unadulterated failure on numerous levels. And you get a nice chunk of points even if they falter. History matters and the thunder series and how that ended last year is resonating here too.

    I'll take the points. GL.

Scal, I really think you're reaching on this one. I can counter all these points and then some but I'll stick to the most important one you brought up. The possibility of redemption back in Los Angeles (where the Clippers lost to heartbreaks) is exactly why the Spurs will have to close the series out tonight. They simply can't afford to give LA that opportunity. There is no margin for error for the Spurs, this is also their game 7! Good luck, buddy.

I'm doing the same, small teaser on the pups tonight

I downgraded my opinion of the Bulls when they couldn't close out the inferior Bucks, at home, in Game 5.  The scrappy Bucks team has motivation and confidence, and it should be a close game tonight

The Clips know how to win @ Spurs, and know how to win a series, as demonstrated last year vs Warriors.    Spurs are good, but not invincible.    They aren't the 90's Bulls teams, who consistently beat opponents of varying styles.    Spurs kicked a Finals game a couple of years ago, and lost the series to the Heat.   In 2012, they went up 2-0 on the Thunders, then lost 4 straight.    They also lost a series to the underdog Grizz, I think it was the year before.    Point is, if the aging Spurs lose to the Clips, it wouldn't surprise me, they've disappointed their backers before, sometimes.

And in all these instances, did the Spurs ever lose two at home? I didn't think so.

Well, there's a first time for everything....

I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs win OR lose tonight.

I would be surprised if they win by DD, that's why I have Clips in a teaser

It's very unlikely the Clippers get blown out here IMO. I have the Spurs winning the series -- possibly tonight -- but I just think the Clippers are too good and will fight too hard here to have their season end so shamefully.

Any edge the Spurs have on the Clippers is infinitesimally small, if they have one at all. The refs favored the Spurs heavily in Game 5, and the Clippers still almost won.

And like Game 5, the outcome of Game 6 is going to depend lot on the way the game is officiated. I doubt the Spurs get all the calls two games in a row, unless the NBA is totally hellbent on having a Spurs-Warriors Conference Final (which, I have to admit, would be nice).

I like the Clippers to cover here and quite possibly get the win.

Yes, just like last year. When they shamefully lost against OKC in game 5 (while also getting screwed by the refs) and then came home to lose game 6. Except now game 6 is against the champs at home. I see the reasoning. Good luck.

The Clippers are better than they were last year. And I'm not sure the Spurs are better than OKC was last year. Plus, the Clippers only lost that game six by six.

I'm not saying the Spurs can't win big here. I'm just saying the Clippers would have to get the shaft from the officials again in order for that to be a likely scenario.

If the Spurs don't get the benefit of the calls and they do cover, I will be back in this thread to give you props.

The Spurs are better than OKC was last year. And they have a better coach. And they are at home. And the Clippers (with or without the refs) will have to play the game of their lives to win this one.

Seen it a million times in sports, teams never recover next game after a demoralizing loss.  Same thing happen to the Spurs the next game in the finals after the Ray Allen shot.  The Rangers against St. Louis in game 6 WS after Cruz missed the easy fly ball.

this series is obviously the best, we all know that!! The 2nd round of playoffs will all be like this series with competetive more elite matchups, as for this game tonight Spurs are notorious to being a CLUTCH team!! clipps are like the cowboys who are choke artists we all know they are 1-2 players away to compete for a chip.  its easy to like the clipps with there flashy play and stars but its a team game the spurs are the best team for a long time, same team that won the chip last year and were at the finals year before.. spurs ML safe but juicy yes but spurs -5.5 is not scary imo all it takes is 2 shots from ICE cold Danny green who i predict to breakout tonight that can close the deal...

bulls -3.5 & spurs -5.5 just don't over think it, or tease it to feel more comfortable and also to have  a great play!!

In the same boat unfortunately, only I got LAC at +350 for series.

Have almost no lean on either game tonight, but do think LAC will stay within single-digits at least so trying to put together a 3-teamer with both dogs and maybe the over in SA, hoping the hack-a-thon continues to push it over 200. Unfortunately my crooked local has no line for GSW up or I'd use them.

They simply can't afford to give LA that opportunity. There is no margin for error for the Spurs, this is also their game 7! Good luck, buddy.

Of course there is margin for error.

The Spurs are up 3-2 and are the champs. They don't fear going to LA for a game 7. They fear no team, including the Warriors.

This isn't the Heat and Lebron. This Clips team is beatable in game 6 or 7. But there is a spread here.

I really think you are dancing with the devil. And now the line is up to 6. We can be pretty certain that's not sharp money moving it.

Comparing this game to the OKC game 5 last year in terms of the refs screwing the Clips is fine.

But there are other elements to this game 5 loss that are distinct and stand out from last year's Okc game 5 debacle, which makes laying the number you are laying very shaky.

This year, not one (the Reggie Jackon out of bounds call last year), but several calls went against the Clips in Game 5:

    1) the blake travel
    2) the barnes goaltend
    3) the cp3 tech
    4) the JJ Reddick phantom foul (his 6th too!)

If one, or two of those calls goes the clips way, there isn't even an opportunity for a goaltend to end it because the clips would have had a 3/4 pt lead that the Spurs would have had to overcome.

But they all went the Spurs way.

Not only that, but look at how poorly the Clips played and still came within a goaltend of winning.

1-19 from three! That won't happen again. One or two threes fall? Clips win.

Blake 1-9 in the fourth. Yes he's gassed and we know why (no bench) but that won't happen two games in a row.

This Spurs team is a goaltend and a blake turnover in game 2 from being down 3-2 or worse.

The Spurs have impressed me one time this series. In their other two wins they needed:

    1) ref screwing and a goaltend
    2) a late Blake fumble and a conversion at the other end

The Spurs should think themselves very fortunate to be up 3-2. Now they are going to lay 5-6 and put their foot on the throat of this high-powered clippers team in an elimination game? No one will be laying down here. This isn't the Raps or Mavs or Celtics. This is one of the best in the west, a flawed best, but still, one of the best.

Since the all star break, ONE game separates the Spurs and clips in win loss record, so for all the lauding of the Spurs after the break, the clips have been there neck and neck getting the job done too. And they are healthy (very important and key to why they failed in prior years).

And again, let's not forget all the Sterling adversity that came with a dragged out Warrior series (draining them emotionally and consequently, as the series wore on physically), and a very tough OKC series that the clips had to deal with, literally shunning their owner the entire time.

That is long gone and is a psychological barrier they need not overcome this year.

The refs will not be pro-Spurs after doc got fined and went line by line through the calls I mentioned above, to embarrass that reffing crew (as they should have been). So that should be in your cap (I.e. Less red favoritism).

This will not be a blowout so a 'pullaway' as you noted in the OP, will have to come late imo and that leaves you with a 3/4pt game and free throws vs. A clips team that is fighting for its life and in your case a 5 pt line...very tenuous.

This may well rank among the most important games in Clips history! And we have to lay points here to back the Spurs? I'm not doing that. I'm taking what is now 6 and I'm glad the public gave me another half.

And what about the NBA wanting a game 7? Could that subconsciously alter some calls here by the refs in the Clips favor? You and I both know the NBA would love a game 7 from their best first round matchup by far, and their reigning champs participating in it.

I'm not gong large as this spot doesn't deserve a huge bet. But like you, a few units will do the trick.

I'm gonna have to leave ya with what Knish said to Mikey in the Russian bathhouse when he needed money to pay KGB: "I don't doubt your talent kid, but this time...I'm gonna have to say no (to the Spurs)"

Clips +6 and may the best capper win

I'm gonna have to leave ya with what Knish said to Mikey in the Russian bathhouse when he needed money to pay KGB: "I don't doubt your talent kid, but this time...I'm gonna have to say no (to the Spurs)"

Clips +6 and may the best capper win

Beautiful stuff, Scal. Between us, I don't think we've overlooked any angles on this one. The worst scenario for me is a Spurs win and a Clippers cover. So if it is a Clippers cover I also hope they win. Good luck.

this is the angle right here. we've seen it happen so many times in all different sports.  couple this with a mentally frail team like the clippers who are notorious for choking in crunch time and you have a recipe for disaster tonight.  unfortunately this series ends tonight.

I am hoping for the same for my sake (that is, an outright win, and if I had the stones, I would be playing the ML which is now over 2-1).

Wow. Fantastic write up Scal. Your angles on this game are right on. My biggest concern with the Clips is whether their bench will keep them in this game. My guess, is their weak bench won't be much of a problem, because In a elimination game like this, CPIII and Blake will not see the bench much at all. I also think Doc will give Jamal Crawford some more minutes over Barnes. Think he'll knock some 3's in for the Clips. This spread seems way off (especially at +6), as I think it'll be another game that comes down to the wire.

    BOL to you guys.

Love spurs here
I agree the Spurs have looked tremendous since the break and I agree Kawai is better. But this is a situational elimination game where you lay 5.5 (unless you buy a hook) against maybe the best high powered front line coupled with the best point guard in the league, all with last year's disappointment/Sterling disruption affecting the psyche/motivation of the Clippers this year. We need not have the Clips win the series for this bet....only cover 5.5 in a game 6. Spurs have to blow them out. Clips have far too much taken in my opinion to have that happen, unless as BB is betting on, a 'pull away occurs'. Let's narrow our focus to just this game and this spot and is see the Spurs having a tough time getting over this number. They have to worry about winning the game, period, and that is a tall task.

How is it a tall task for a home team that lost 8 games at home all year in a loose out game against a demoralized clippers team. If anything the tall task is on the clippers trying to win twice in San antonio
