So because other religions behaved badly hundreds of years ago it gives Islamic extremists the right to wreak havoc today?  By your standards the US still has unfinished business with Britain.  And Texan's people should invade Germany.  The past is the past I'm focused on the present and future. We live in a civilized world today, only Islam is stuck in the Middle Ages.

excuse me but not once in your post did you reference the fact that some of these things have happened in the past while sum continue happening to this day regarding the different religions.....so wat the fu*k,all the disgraceful treatment of humans down thru history in the name of christianity doesnt count anymore??...it still happened, that religion still gotta own it and accept that it stood for those atrocities for a long, long time...and you talk about how backwards the middle east is,shi.t have a look at how many centuries the christian way of life remained base, primitive and degenerate....self righteous slaughtering of anyone who wudnt get in line or believe in their ways and beliefs.

if bush started wars for completely false reasons, which he most definitely did, then yea he gotta take huuuge responsibility for the deaths that resulted from it regardless of whether he never pulled a trigger or otherwise.....and are you saying you never heard the ignorant little monkey use religion and "his god" to justify his actions and support wat he was doing to bring about his own very special kind of "justice"???....like i say, read up......dude never hesitated to stand behind his religion and use it as a badge of honour,a reason to be proud....and yet how the fu.k was that dude living by the teachings/morality/commandments of jesus/god??.......bush is about as evil as they come and hes an example of your modern day "good christian man".

and they mite not be on crusades anymore in the modern world but christianity is responsible for fraudulent conning of weak-minded people out of millions of dollars all over the world every year and the priests/brothers dont mind a bit of a fiddle with the odd small child either.....this religion, like all of them,is far, far, far from squeeky clean and the hypocritical, holier than thou preachings and posturing from them are laughable.

like carpinteria said, all religions in watever form they appear, are a total joke....dont try to elevate one above the other just because its one youre more familiar with and have been conditioned into.

Look I hate Bush, clearly not as much as you, but I won't attempt to defend him anymore.  The point is just about every country is responsible for murder and mayhem, and this is mostly done independent of religion.  The USA has a secular government, but maybe you don't buy that. I bet you do, however, believe that China is secular and look how many of their own people they abuse, torture and kill.  Countries are gonna kill no matter what, just how it's always been.  My point is there is only one religion that individuals will invoke to create murder and mayhem, completely independent of states.  Yes plenty of Christians have killed in recent times but it has rarely been in the name of religion.  And all "Christian Nations" are secular states were people aren't required to be a Christian or adhere to Christian principles.  Islamic states on the other hand are rarely ever secular and Islam is used to oppress its people especially the poor and women.

I'm not saying Christianity is perfect and that it should be forgiven for mistakes of the past.  But what happens in today's civilized society is more important than what happened 600 years ago in regards to people living in the present like you and me.  Surely you can't argue that?  Extremism in any religion is a problem but it's a bigger and more violent problem for Islam. And you can list all the bad things you want about Christianity but I could think of a million more things the Catholic Church, in particular, does that are good. You can sell a lot of papers about Priests being diddlers and absolutely that needs to be reported.  But nobody is going to write an article about the thousands of orphanages the Church runs or the millions that the Church feeds every year.  But it happens, every day.  Take mother Theresa as just one example.  The diddlers and con-artist tevengelagists are horrible, you're right.  But for the vast majority of Christians who simply follow Jesus' teachings, I can't think of anyone who has a better message to follow. He taught to treat others as you want others to treat you. And he taught to love your enemies and to do good works such as help the poor.  If you look simply at Jesus' words as most Christians do and block out the rest you have pretty damn good mottos to live by even if you think it is just a bunch of fairy tales.  Muhammad was probably a good guy but he did advocate forcing his religion upon others.  Jesus never did this.

Finally, I just want to apologize to any Muslims reading this.  I've probably been over-inflammatory.  I believe the vast majority of Muslims are good people, I just believe Islam, in particular, has been hijacked by extremism and is misused by those in power and is a religion that is stuck in the middle ages in a lot of ways. I wouldn't say the other religions have caught up to modern day society but they've certainly cut out all the killing and wielding political power.

if bush started wars for completely false reasons, which he most definitely did, then yea he gotta take huuuge responsibility for the deaths that resulted from it regardless of whether he never pulled a trigger or otherwise.....and are you saying you never heard the ignorant little monkey use religion and "his god" to justify his actions and support wat he was doing to bring about his own very special kind of "justice"???....like i say, read up......dude never hesitated to stand behind his religion and use it as a badge of honour,a reason to be proud....and yet how the fu.k was that dude living by the teachings/morality/commandments of jesus/god??.......bush is about as evil as they come and hes an example of your modern day "good christian man".

and they mite not be on crusades anymore in the modern world but christianity is responsible for fraudulent conning of weak-minded people out of millions of dollars all over the world every year and the priests/brothers dont mind a bit of a fiddle with the odd small child either.....this religion, like all of them,is far, far, far from squeeky clean and the hypocritical, holier than thou preachings and posturing from them are laughable.

like carpinteria said, all religions in watever form they appear, are a total joke....dont try to elevate one above the other just because its one youre more familiar with and have been conditioned into.

cool...i take your points but the main point remains that religion in watever guise or form has been used to justify and support the most atrocious mis-deeds inflicted upon mankind and the whole thing is just a crutch for weak-minded people that need to think that "there must be sumthing else out there, sumthing more to life than this"......im not into separating them or throwing stones at one or another.
and i guarantee you dont know enuff about muslims or many other religions to identify all the good points about them either, all you have done is rag on them.
and yes i agree 100%,the basic fundamental tenets and teachings of the christian faith are certainly rules to live by without doubt..i should know,i was raised a catholic all my child-hood up until the point that my brain was well developed enuff to generate its own individual thoughts and make its own decisions and conclusions....so whilst i no longer believe in the fairy-tale i definitely live by the prescribed morality, ironically enuff a damn site more than most so-called "christians" out there cheating on their wives and self righteously preaching to others at the same time.
