3 NBA blowouts in a row because public loves dogs now public likes pacers. Knicks or public due?
Are you saying Indy is public bet tomorrow? Give me a break.
It is hindsight 20/20 after the game.
What is your pick tomorrow? And tell me if that is a public bet.

Every single day all over the internet this is the same crap you see gamblers posting. I really dont think todays gamblers actually know how many legal and illegal books there all around the world, all with different handles. I think gamblers believe there is 1 wizard hiding behind the curtain controlling all games daily.
Also i have asked this question so much and no gambler has every been able to answer it.
So this guy said the public is all over the dogs, who actually is this giant mystery group called the public? 45 years gambling and i still havent found this group, since every single bettor on and off the internet dont consider themselves the public, then who is the public if it isnt each and every one of us.? Are all of us here on covers, the actual sharp bettors because we hang out on a sports forum?
Heres a news flash if a person wants to know who the public is betting, walk up to a mirror and ask that person in the mirror who they like. You will then have your answer to who the public is betting. SO UNLESS YOU ARE MOVING LINES AND BOOKS ARE AFRAID OF YOUR BETS, CONSIDER YOURSELF THE PUBLIC, no matter how much you dont want to believe that to be true. We are

@cd329
Bro.....
I've often asked myself the same question, but I suspect the "public" might be "they."
In any case, check out Sophie - Tukker's song, "F#×& They".
It just might.

I think when ppl refer to the “public”, they’re referencing a “majority” or what the average Joe would think of a game with no research.. lol or in some cases, when a point spread or line is “fishy” in their eyes, so it’s practically begging the bettor to take a certain side… and my best response to that is, it really could be “a thing”……..
BUT the biggest problem with that is not “knowing” when to apply it, and people urge to want to apply it to EVERY game.. WITHOUT actually knowing enough thorough detail.. here’s a good example and I will draw up numbers to make the point, im not saying these numbers are accurate.. but it’s what I mean by detail.
Example: a Super Bowl.
Team Fave vs Team Dawg. Team Fave may have a total of 1million bets on their side. Team Dawg have a total of 1000 bets. This kind of VOLUME on ONE game, even I may be compelled to believe politics are involved and would take Team Dawg.
on the flip side..
a college regular season matchup between Iowa vs Minnesota. Which may draw a TOTAL of 10 bets.. so the avg Joe sees 100% on one side and overreacts like “fade the public” lol ..and that one game wasn’t a drop in the ocean, in comparisons of wagers a Sportsbook sees in a day.
be careful with those “percentages” when u really don’t know if you’re measuring volume of bets a game takes or if it’s the side majority of money is on..
if 10 bettors all bet $1 on one side VERSUS 1 guy who bet $1K on the other side, I wouldn’t mind that majority winning neither that one guy paid for 10 and the book still profits.

@Temen
Hey Temen! Based on the percentages published on the "upcoming match ups" on THIS forum, you are absolutely correct! Fade the public and you are a winner! I think I will do it again...take the KNICKS...hehehehehe!!!

Its frigging stupid to say the public, because person making the statement is the public themselves. On top of that nobody truly knows what the total number of bets that are made on each side, because there isnt anybody totaling up the number of bets up from every legal and illegal sports book all around the world, so really that makes this stuff totally useless. Lastly anybody that believes sports books are releasing info of how much money and number of bets is made on games, in order to help bettors win their money is down right comical. Yes if i was a sports book, i would want to help bettors take my money. My God people this is common sense shit, books arent telling you the truth.

@cd329
lol my point exactly.. it’s like they have one piece to a 100-piece puzzle and it’s just not enough information or what they think it is to draw a final conclusion.. I would even say it’s absolutely enough to be a considered “variable “ but not solely enough to make my final decision.
As my last example in the original response stated, we can see what side majority is on, yes.. but how would one ever know the actual sums of $$$ on each side.
So to the beginner bettor possibly reading this, understand that books can still win even when we win. Thats why there is juice on heavy faves.. Ppl gotta stop searching for the “promising” route in wagering, when there is none. If there was, it would’ve been discovered long ago & sports betting may not have survived long enough see a sports APP. lol
and this is coming from someone been around Covers & wagering since 2005. Never cared abt clout or posting winners/losers on here cause in reality that serves nothing but ego.

Lol oh my lord, I haven't laughed so much on this forum before. That was hilarious and a very true point you made.
Anyhow, I always thought that back in the day the Sharps were a few Mob guys laying huge bets. That's just what came to mind when I used to read articles on Vegasinsider . com about NFL games.
It said like.... Public is on Pat's laying 7.5 in New York but some Sharp money came early on the Jets, pushing the line down to 7

Excellent post everything you said is true and young bettors should read things like that, cause if they dont there is no doubt they will have a lifetime of gambling misery. No sports book is gonna release real numbers. Any numbers they release to all of us, are calculated to help them win more of our money by giving us useless not real info that gamblers gobble it up big time.
Also what gamblers dont grasp is books dont need to rig games(the corporation bean counters in vegas dont have the power to do it anyways) because they already have a giant advantage over all of us ITS CALLED THE VIG AND IS JUST AS POWERFUL AS COMPOUND INTEREST
