Rivers coaches the Bucks. JD Bickerstaff is the Pistons head coach. The Knicks two top players are Brunson and Towns, they’re the all stars. For Detroits it is Cunningham and probably Durren. Pistons are a young team but they have good roll players and a deep bench with Schruder, Beasley and Isiah Stewart.
Knicks don’t have a bench. So it puts a lot of stress on the starters to play a lot of minutes night in, and night out. Knicks needed a quality bench player to make this team a contender. This will end up being a wasted window for a team that could have been a title contender with another decent move. You are also seeing the value of a Divencenzio. He was a vital cog for them last year. And now he’s been a huge lift for the T-Wolves.
I think you misunderstanding him. He's saying if you were to name the top 4 players in the series, the Kinicks probably have 3 of them (Jalen, KAT, and OG) to Detroits 1 (Cade). He's saying the fact that they are struggling with the young upstart Pistons reflects badly on their coach, Thibs, who he feels that along with Doc Rivers, are two of the worst coaches in the NBA. Thibs and Doc are both widely viewed as overrated coaches who keep getting jobs even though they repeatedly do less with more.

He has been mediocre his entire coaching career. And if not for a blown call, he would be probably be down 2-3 to an upstart Pistons team missing one of their best players. This dude has Jalen Brunson and KAT with OG and Mikal Bridges. Not much depth but his starting 5 is insane. I could have that team in the playoffs in the East.
