The Nets line just came out on betonline, and it is at +7.5. A little too high, if I wanna back Miami, but a good teasing opportunity.

Wow. Outstanding BB. Like the Jazz/Minny never existed.

Hold onto that nest egg like a newborn dove and move forward...

Well as you just saw Nets were a different team Starting game 5 4th quarter and up in this series. I would guess Miami would be -500 or -550 or so for the series most likely.

You know what crazy though is that the Nets future odds were always lower than Toronto even when the Nets were down in the series.

The Nets have the biggest shot out of anyone inthe playoffs to beat the Heat IMO. Thunder don't match up well with them. And by the time the spurs (if they get there) get to the heat they will be tired and worn out (possibly). Nets just a gotta wake up call from Toronto and got the juices flowing.

But what we really want is for miami to trail hopefully 2-1 or something like that. it's possible.... anything is possible.... and if we get that opportunity then we can buy some Futures on Miami.....

Laying -400 for Miami to win the East is ridiculous. Or +140 (whatever it is) for championship is also ridiculous.

I'm expecting Brooklyn to get blown out game 1.

Indy is going down as well..... I'm on the Wiz kids for the whole series. And i think they take them out game 1 in Indy as well.

ATL has no defense. Washington has plenty of defense.... and they can score points at a quicker rate than ATL can after they turn them over. Indy loves giving the ball to other team.

Ok, it's obvious after reading through all that you won't have any serious money on a Nets series bet. You'll have a little because the odds will be so long to entertain yourself, but nothing of consequence. Glad you came to your senses (after telling Miami to look over its shoulder before game 1 of this series).

I told you long ago I have futures on the Nets.....

I'm not gonna sit here and disrespect the Raps.... great team.... Nets were clowns for more than half of this series. This should have been a 4-1 4-2 win TOPS.... they dragged this out longer than it should have been. The fact that this team did pull this shiit out on the road against a very underated Raps team should make those who are paying attention think twice.  This isn't the same nets team from last year...... And toronto is better than Indy and one of the better teams in the playoffs, period. Miami isn't stupid they know this as well.

If i didn't bet the nets on futures i would hit them for this series. So basically my futures are this series bet.

Everyone thinks it will be over fast.... but for what reason? No one has any rhyme or reason as why they think that. I want to see one legit explanation as to how they come to the conclusion that Miami blows through the nets in 4 or 5 games? The squares think this goes fast and miami moves on but they have no idea why besides "oh Lebron wont let them lose" ..... Not so fast.....

and nets aren't going to look past Miami like they did vs. TOR.... just like Miami they already threw that 4-0 regular season sweep out the window. That means nothing to them. PP34 already addressed right away after they won in Toronto. They are fully aware Miami is a completely different team in the playoffs. The Nets as a collective unit have a ton of experience playing Miami Head to Head. And as a collective unit i think they might have the more talented team. I think this will be a very interesting series.... and a grind out.....

    Gene, you'll never learn.

Here you are strutting like a rooster for the Nets saying they should have won 4-2 and even In FIVE!

You do know the Nets went down eIghteen points! at the half in a crucial Game 5 just like they did in game 7 the year prior when they spit the bit to players with bed pans and catheters in the Bulls. Ultimately their furious but gutsy comeback failed in that game JUST LIKE the raps in this one (and in game 2!). But I guess comebacks are different for the nets huh? Because they are from:
Brooooooooklyn Brooooooklyn (the worst chant in all of professional sports).

Did you see Canada_Chris' post? This was about as even a series as there could ever be.

And you have the nerve to to say the nets "dragged this out" to 7.

    Wow.

This after the Raps had the ball down a single point for all the marbles, after a horrific collapse...

    Wow Gene.

If I never learn.... then you're on the same boat as me.

If you go back and re-read my post I talk about how there is a ton of parity in the League.... even Miami barely barely got out alive with a championship against the Spurs....The difference in ability and talent is so small nowadays.... Damian Lilliard game winner with .9 seconds left. . Otherwise we're in game 7 talking about a monumental collapse if Portland loses.

BUT..... so far the nets are the only team to win a game 7 on the road in a 1st round where almost every game went to game 7. The mental toughness is there this year where it wasn't last year. I think we can both agree that Toronto was a real deal team. If Miami wasn't in their way for round 2 I can legitimately see them making it to the ECF. Barkley had them winning this series and Chris Webber actually had them going to the ECF before the seedings and all that stuff was determined. Barkely is a little biased though, as he hates all NY teams, the Lakers, and the Spurs.... which makes sense since he played for Philly, PHX, and Houston.

And feck yea i'm gonna be happy they won. I never bailed on them and I CLEARLY SAID I'm going down with the ship if they lose this series. I'm not strutting to begin with. I haven't even said one thing to make it seem like i'm strutting. Swings happen in all games.... its basketball. I can make the same argument for where the nets could have been up 3-1 in this series and have this locked.... No one really expected Dallas to take SA to 7. swings happen in all sports, especially the NBA this year.

And if anyone was strutting all over the place.... it was all the Raps fans from Ontario especially when the raps were up 26 points in Game 5...... then they quickly quieted down.

I agree 100%..... the Brooklyn chant has to be the most ridiculous cheer in sports..... just awful.

aside from any other arguments relating to nets chances to advance any further,i just have to point out that it is laughably absurd to compare the team that collapsed in a heap last year against the bulls to this years edition...theyre basically 2 entirely different squads so to link the mental fragility is a total non-argument....depth and versatility is on a whole nother level compared to that joke of a team...apart from adding paul pierce, kevin garnett, shaun livingston, mason?? plumlee, andrei kirilenko, mirza teletovic, then marcus thornton, they also have a different coach....and the good player they have lost in lopez has funnily enuff led to a change in style and vast improvement so thats a non-issue also.....no conclusion can be drawn from wat that side did to any potential this team has to achieve big things.

on wat do you base the assertion that they have basically zero chance, scalabrine???i find that mind-boggling,i see them trading punches with them and eventually going down in a long series reminiscent of those celtics-heat series.....hard to go past miami championship pedigree and the best player on the court every nite, but nothing will be easy at all here...staggered that folks are thinking it will....just as the likes of the spurs and heat step it up and shift into higher gears the further they go on in the playoffs,i can see the nets having the ability and know-how/experience to do like-wise.......and if there were no agenda to have lebron shine on the big stage once more versus durant or the spurs then i wud call this a 55/45 %series in favour of the heat....as it is its probably more like 65/35 %for series winner to miami

Good argument, Melo. As someone who watched the Celtics closely the past few years I can tell you that PP, KG have had a huge impact on this team. They will certainly go down swinging. Speaking of agenda, did you see the last out of bounds call on PP in today's game? Watch it again. The ref almost paused for a second, probably thinking "what do I do now? everyone saw who it was off of but if I give the ball to the Raptors they might win." In the end, he couldn't get out of it. But he took so long to make that easy call that you could almost see the wheels turning in his head.

Definitely OKC (not a homer pick but there is not enough there for the Clips to go to the WCF).

bb, LOL. I saw that on PP! Ref almost called it Nets ball and the series was on the line with that call!

Melos Were gonna start arguing on this one and I don't want to do that.

Gene, at least we agree on the Brooklyn chant so I'll leave it at that.

The number of games decided by 5 points or less - 21

The number of games won by road teams - 23

The number of 4 point plays - 15 (folks, that HAS to be the most ever of any playoffs ever and the FIRST ROUND is not even over).

Because of this it is very tough to lay points in these playoffs.

    Ok. Who’s the winner?

Don’t even add the points up. It’s the Raps in a landslide. But those are my bullet points. I had a different kind of write-up but Covers.com is running adds in my posting area slowing down my typing speed tremendously so we shot bullets from a gun here. You may have very relevant counterpoints. Feel free to add them.

So here is what we will do. LC stated in his thread that the number that the most NBA games have ended at for margin of victory was 2 and 7. I haven’t verified that but 2 makes perfectly logical sense.

While our ratings points have the Raps in a landslide, you personally may have ratings points that make this game very even (or assign more value to a rating than just a point). This game will be close in my eyes so we have to buy this down to 2. We just can’t lay 3 here, I’m sorry. If you don’t want to buy a point and feel more comfortable with the ML, ok. This is a moderate play. This is a very tough game to cap and hit and it should simply be flat-betted. Moderate is the key word here. The rating is 3 stars.

The Nets need forgiveness to move on. The Priest doing working the confessional? Tyler Hansbrough. Yeah, that confession is not gonna work.

The Raptors know the Nets wanted them all along. Well they have them and the Raptors couldn't ask for more with a Game 7 on their floor for all the marbles, with many posters here saying it would be a Nets SWEEP! (followed by a Nets in 5 and then a Nets in 6 after two subsequent losses).

Final note? We saw the series line move tremendously when it opened from Nets a slight dog to -200 in some places. The series money is huge on the Nets given that. Vegas had the Raps all along. Who do you want to side with in Game 7 in Toronto? I know where I stand.

The Nets? They should be on their knees.

And since they aren't? They will not pass into the second round.

    THE PICK FOR GAME 7!:

RAPTORS -2 (Bought a point) OVER NETS

You are such a blabbering joke. Reading your thoughts are like a little teenage girl who just won't shut the FK UP. I can't wait until the Pacers crush the Wizards by about 20 tonight, so i can laugh at you in your other thread.

We almost got there guys. Never would have believed they could have won this one but these raps had two incredible comebacks that fell a hair short and this one a razor's edge short.

Now seriously, who really believes this nets team can beat the heat in a 7 gamer!?????

Can I get series odds from someone please?

Sorry SCAL, but I dont have the time to peruse all the negative ".." in this thread BUT......I chimed "in" about one of your initial arguments....the Ref's and what the NBA hierarchy wanted ...for ratings only sales...Heat vs Nets......it was STRONGLY on display here...other than one call that went RAPS favor......TWO (2) blocking fouls in 4th on Raps when those guys CLEARLY were "planted" before offenders left their feet...another one was the CHARGE on LOWRIE on the way to basket very late in contest......just ONE of the calls go your way.  ....Raps win..

You WERE right all along....NBA wanted this matchup

At least we get your "local" input into this matchup

And btw...I must agree with Cuban that officiating hurts this leagues credibility "much more" than ANY  "venom" spewed out of Sterling's PIEHOLE Can' t wait for your Round 2 analysis
