Never understood why teams wait till theres point secs left to jack up a shot with the game on the line

Question

I understand if you score you don&#x27;t allow the other team a chance but what if you don&#x27;t.  This is one of a few things I noticed they only do in the NBA never on the college level.  Could be an analytic thing who knows

If the game is tied yes this is the correct strategy

@rosswin97&#xA;Of course in that scenario but not when your down.  Talking about Denver last night down 1.   8 secs left and choose to jack up 3 with .7 secs left.  See this so much on the NBA level when they could try fast for a easy 2. You don&#x27;t make, foul, advance the ball and then try for a 3 if necessary.  Now its like they absolutely have to go for the win right then and there with 15 secs or more to score

You make it sound like they just dribbled the ball and jacked a three.

That’s not what happened. Jamal and Jokic two man game, Murray gets it to Jokic in the middle of the floor just below the free throw line. He makes a move to the basket and 3-4 Mavs collapse on Jokic so he kicks it to a wide open shooter in the corner. That is good basketball.
