Detroit is no longer a feel-good story-they're a legit top-tier team sitting on one of the best records and defensive profiles in the league. But this number is pricing them like they need to win by 20, and that's where things get tricky. The Pistons win games, but they haven't been a consistent cover team in these inflated spots, and we just saw this matchup land inside this number two days ago. This also sets up as a classic front-end-of-a-back-to-back spot with a bigger game on deck, which usually leads to a "get in, get out" performance once the lead is secure. Washington is bad-no way around it-but this is the type of number where garbage time matters. If Detroit is up 15 late, they're not pushing. That's how underdogs sneak in the back door, and that's what I'm banking on.
