PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS - 6.5 (-117) - - - The Blazers will be without wingman Nicholas Batum, I was really hoping for a better line as Batum is an excellent defender at his position and usually provides a lot of intangible statistics such as boards, assists as well as floor spacing. Tonight Dorell Wright will get the start for Portland. The seldom used Wright will start for two reasons; the first is his size, at 6'9, he is actually the only real option to start and guard MKG at 6'7. It also allows for the Portland bench to stay intact, rotations will remain the same for the squad and that is good news for Blazer backers considering they have been outstanding at home. Their one and only loss came to the Warriors and you all know how high I am on the Warriors. The rest of their games at home they have won in devastating fashion winning by an average of 18.25 points per game. The did not face complete dud teams either, Denver, Dallas, Cleveland and Oklahoma City were all victims of the deadly Rose. Tonight I see a huge matchup mismatch. Al Jefferson has been tearing it up, and may do so again tonight, but something tells me he will struggle more than usual. Robin Lopez is a 7'0 monster of a man, Big Al is a 6'10 power forward having to play out of position (albeit, for more of his career), he will not be able to use his 7-9 foot jumpshot against the outstretched arms of Lopez. Don't get me wrong, Big Al will get his, but tonight he faces a legit 7 foot cave man who will pose problems for him on the block. Big L is another guy who will dominate this game, Marvin Williams is not a 4 man in this league, not even close. Even if Marvin spends time on the arc to lure Aldridge away, it won't make a difference, after a few possessions of getting his ass handed to him by Big L who is quite possibly the best 4 in the game in terms of his offensive post game, Marvin should be substituted out...but who will take his place? It cannot be Cody Zeller (who by the way is playing outstanding basketball), Cody is the only guy who can take over at the 5 spot, so he and Big Al will not play together. So that leave Maxiell who is an undersized PF and will once again be exposed by Aldridge. Wesley Matthews is a lock-down defender and will do as such against Born Ready today. Kemba and Lillard will be a great matchup to watch and should battle all night. The bench for the Hornets consists of only one offensive weapon and that is Gary Neal. C.J McCollum is the same size as Gary but with a much longer wingspan and standing reach, I see him causing some problems for Gary tonight, if not him, than the larger Barton or Wesley will lock him down. As stated earlier, Zeller is playing great ball, but so it Kaman, that will also be a very good matchup. Steve Blake is finding his rhythm again and will contribute. I want to see a lot more minutes for Thomas Robinson, his hustle and rebounding ability demands playing time, but it is hard playing behind the best PF in the game. All-in-all, looking at all these big faves tonight, I really believe Portland is by far the best fave on the card. The Rose is red with the blood of the Hornets tonight.
4.5 UNITS ROBIN "ENCINO MAN" LOPEZ - - -

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS - 7.0 (-110) - - - I really do think that Klay suits up today and am taking a risk by betting early. On roto it stated he feeks very strongly that he returns on Tuesday and in shootaround coach Kerr stated he felt fine. Not much else I can say about the Warriors that I haven't in the past 2 writeups, they are just my favorite team in the league this year (except of course for my boys from the North). GS is hands down the best team in the division and will prove it by attaining home court this year and I suspect it won't be the 3rd seed, if ya know what I mean. Tonight the Spurs will be tired, especially Duncan who played a massive 36+ minutes against an uptempo Clipps team. He does pose a matchup problem against the much smaller Green but I think the two bigs on the GS bench will help out tonight. Leonard had his breakout game this season as suspected, he should follow up with another stellar game but Barnes will lure him away from the paint where he has been averaging a large number of rebounds. If Matt Bonner starts again, he needs to play a lot better for the Spurs to have any chance, it does concern me that he may force Bogut to play away from his comfort zone but so will all the San An bigs and I have confidence that Kerr has somewhat of a solution for that, maybe big-to-big d switches or something similar. Steph and Klay always play outstanding ball at home and I expect nothing less tonight. The bench for the Warriors is once again the key to tonight win and hopefully cover. Iggy, Barbosa and Livingston all pose matchup problems for San An, they should work their magic once again. Festus and Speights are my key 2nd unit players tonight. They may be needed to handle more responsibility to guard Timmy and the stretch 5 men on the San An bench. I don't see a lot of teams coming into Golden State and beating them. If the Spurs were at full strength, they may be the team to do it, but without Patty, Marco and Splitter and on 0 days rest facing the fastest team in the league, it will be a struggle to say the least. Warriors roll and continue their dominance over the conference and the league.
