Firstly I hope this could be an open discussion, with contribution of valid points and not another boring thread picking some team to win tonight or the total ... if you're here for a pick the entire forum is flooded with these.
I wouldn't call myself a gambling addict, although I can't say I'm immune from betting like one, but frankly, I've been in this forum for years now, I tried to bet on the NBA and mainly on the totals, I don't like the spreads, I don't like sides or money lines, and yet I don't think I believe this could be a "job", a side hustle, it's definitely a side hassle though, but just speaking with the truth here - what difference does it have than roulette?
Total can be 215 ... goes live to 235 and you pick the under and it ends with 270 points .... you think "buy low sell high" you take the under at 265 and you still lose .... or it can go to 220 and you pick the over and then it ends with 214 points, and vice versa...
You got a night of 3 games, 2 went under so the 3rd one must be over, right?!
How is it different than the roulette hitting black 5 times in a row, then you bet black thinking the 6th one must be black and it falls on red?
I'm asking you seriously, after years, years of betting - is there any point at betting at all, on the NBA? Or in general?
Please no nonsense, just honest contributions without the BS.

It's not worth it... At least in roulette you can get free drinks... I only bet in playoffs NBA and NFL NCAAB been doing it for 28 years I may have made money 15 years, cant imagine doing it for a Living.. But some people very few can actually do it..

I love NBA Totals; with a lean on UNDER play, my passion is initiating the many handicapping formulas that bring the winning-edge to the surface..you work, you win. I speak, and represent NBA YTD TOTAL WINNERS.....consistently

NBA totals used to be my bread and butter but with teams up 14 playing with pace instead of milking clock it’s ruined me. Back in the day if a team had a healthy lead the 4th round finish 27-20 now they act like they’ve never played basketball and it goes 37-33 or some craziness. Only time you get an under is if a team no shows and shoots 7-45 from 3 pters good luck I may go play keno or something
I was the guy that bet on Russell Westbrook

This will probably make you sick, had you put 20k into some type of fund that only earned you 4 percent and started the fund with 20k in it, then put in 500 a month into for 35 years, you would be sitting on 530k way more then you would have won gambling. Every one of us gamblers think were gonna make money gambling but truth is majority dont. We all just waste our time and money away, instead of earning the money slowly over time where it grows.
And now heres the real sickening number. if instead of getting 4 percent, you got 8 percent (which isnt really that hard to get) you would be sitting on 1.3 million. Do you think you could have won anywhere close to that amount? Problem is we all want that fast money, instead of slow and steady. AM FRIGGIN GUILTY OF IT MYSELF. Now at 62 theres really no reason for me to quit something i have done for 45 years, but if i could go back in time and do it all again. I would never make any bets and thats the truth. So to all the young bettors am giving you the golden advice that i wish i knew back 45 years ago, Dont blow your chance like i did, cause you will be here typing out the same thing am typing out right nowas your saying damn, i should have listened to CD's advice.
None of us are gonna win 1.3 million gambling, unless you make 1 bet for 1.3 million, win it and quit. Remember this tidbit the vig we pay to bet, is basically the same thing as compound interest but in reverse. Good luck
