By that logic, shouldn't the NBA make sure every NBA Finals series goes 7 games?  Michael Jordan was in the Finals 6 times, but the NBA never made it go 7  games... In fact, in the last 21 NBA Finals, there have only been 3 series that made it to game 7, which is the same number of sweeps! In fact, the same people on this forum who have kept telling us the NBA is scripted, also said the NBA cheated the Cavs out of the 2007 NBA Finals... a series that ended 4-0!  Why would the NBA want the series to end after 4 games? In the past 16 years there have been exactly the same number of outcomes that were 4-0 or 4-1 as there have been outcomes that were 4-2 or 4-3... explain that in the context of your "script theory!"

I made a similar post like this a year or two back. You're spot on... I mean if they rig series to go longer wouldn't we at least see a general skew in favour of the 4-2/4-3 results, especially considering that the finals are each year the best team from each conference? It's almost like they rig it to be shorter ;)

From a statistics point of view, we can break down Finals history like this:

First of all, a 4-0 outcome should be considered anomalous and unexpected, since this is a matchup of the (supposedly) top two teams in the NBA.  We shouldn't expect these to occur very often...

If we look at the other 3 possible outcomes (5, 6 or 7) games, we would expect them to essentially follow a "Normal Distribution," if there is no manipulation taking place.  There have been a total of 69 NBA Finals matchups to date... with 8 of these resulting in a sweep!  That leaves 61 remaining, with a distribution that looks like this:

    5 games:   -----------------
    6 games: --------------------------
    7 games: ------------------

69 may not be a massive sample size, but it's enough to assume a decent level of reliability... and as it turns out, these results are perfectly in keeping with a Normal Distribution.  6 games is the most frequent result, with 5 or 7 games occurring in almost identical frequency.

Basically, (not including those anomalous sweeps) about 42% of the games have ended in 6 games... about 28% have ended in 5 games and 29% in 7 games...

In conclusion: there is no apparent manipulation taking place, and (one would think it is "needless to say") it would definitely not be parsimonious to assume that these results have been manipulated this way to make it SEEM like there has been no manipulation!

Exactly!  And in fact, I assume most "script theorists" would say that it hasn't been going on for 69 years, but that this is a more recent practice... but if we look at the past 20-30 years, the number of 7 game series' is very small (even less frequent than in the early years), and there is a very unprofitably high number of 4 and 5 game series.

In the past 27 years, there have been 11 (40.7%) series that didn't make it to a game 6... that's a lot of money down the drain for a league that is supposedly manipulating the outcomes for greater profit!

Pretty sure you are not reading these forum posts. Warriors picks are scarce. You are a bookie no doubt. Thank you though for the easy fade.

I guess they care more about taking the bettors money who thinks it will go 7....rather than scripting the series to all go 7...then the bettors get a much more predictable bet.

But when will the public perception catch on to these the series rarely go 7? When that happens we will see a lot more 7 game series.

It definitely has something to do with the bettors IMO

Last year Bob claimed to leave Covers forever if Warriors won the championship. This was at the beginning of the playoff. Yet, he's back here rambling away.

I wouldn't necessarily say the nba rigs it but I have no doubt Vegas has influenced many outcomes. The GS scoring second half of last game was ridiculous compared to the 1st with Curry and Clay getting the same looks. Also if every series went to 7 then it would be obvious lol. These are 2 power house team, rematch from last year, tons of money to be made if it goes 7. We'll see how the calls look tn. I dont really care, I wont pick a winner maybe 1stQ/1stH and depending maybe a live bet in there but nothing crazy, just a little to make the game fun because I do believe it's scripted to a point. Very well cuould end tn tho. But I think it goes 7.

You've lost all credibility pal, when a man gives his word and doesn't do what he says, what is he???

Possible he meant it at the time, and then just changed his mind. I did that before myself. I left for a year and then I just decided I wanted to post again

But some jerk here offered me $1000 to stop posting...and then didn't hold to his word. So I have every right to post

If he had actually paypal my the $1000 I would of never posted here again. That is my word, I would never go back on that if someone actually paid me money. That would be a very wrong thing to do and if I did that, I'd surely get what I deserved...

Sure, I will...Who still thinks the NBA isn't scripted? Both teams in foul trouble early and Curry fouls out for the first time in his career?
