Who said the knicks are a championship team, just because they are playing well first 25 games of the season? Its the 2nd half of the season that determines a teams character and strength, I dont think they will shoot the ball this well the entire season and their defense has gotten worse as the season has progressed...I still dont think they are a threat by the time playoffs roll around, just my imo but we ll see...

At the moment, there is a clear delineation between the haves and have nots in the NBA. There are only 7-8 teams that are legitimate title contenders: SA, OKC, LAC, Mem, Mia and the NYK. You could maybe throw in the Lakers and Bulls if they get their rosters healthy and ready for the playoffs. That's it. No one else is playing anywhere near championship caliber ball.

If the champion doesn't emerge from these teams, it would be a huge surprise. I would consider the Knicks a contender(albeit at the lower rung), especially if they can integrate Amare and Shumpert successfully.

I have nothing against the Knicks, but...
