It's not a matter of what is better. Kobe Bryant was jacking up shots against a team having a shitty campaign as well. The Raptors were horrible and so the biggest ball hog in history with the most missed shots in history went on a shooting tear. And shot a bunch of threes and free throws. Yay.
It's all ball hogging make or miss however you want to perceive it. Clearly they had no way to stop him but to foul him as a modern era big man. You could say David Robinson's 71 would have been more if he evolved to shoot threes. Which is what has happened since 1990s. From 2000s on the quality of team basketball went down the tube while skills of players increased. Now it's all one dimensional and the positions are virtually interchangeable.

I was going to mention this lol I remember this game. It was almost embarrassing imo . He had one thing in his head the record where I think bam was just balling out for his team down players . Fouls or not I give what bam did more respect . I mean hes not top 5 every year I'm scoring ........

I was watching the Celtics and Spurs game then it got changed over to the Bam/Heat game!
What I saw was a Heat player missing a Free Throw on purpose! Wiz got the rebound then the Heat fouled right away to save time!
not saying Kobe’s 81 was better! I really don’t care about single game 2nd most point but when I saw that ( read above ) as impressive as a 83 is…. Don’t really mean much! Someone said Kobe was jacking up shots, well to score over 50 in a game the player have be jacking up shots! But again the intentional miss and foul to create more opportunities was kind of whack!

Kobe Bryant does not own the record for most missed field goal attempts. And he attempted “only” 13 threes vs. the Raptors twenty years ago, making 7 of them, which is excellent. Bam Adebayo also made 7 threes last night, but attempted a ludicrous 23 of them, which is a terrible 30%.
And Kobe attempted “only” 20 free throws on his 81-point night while the complicit Wizards sent Adebayo to the line for a preposterous 43 attempts.
Kobe’s career night will always be revered while Adebayo’s career night is being roundly scorned for the travesty that it was.
