yea,you right scalabrine...nothing is guaranteed but im going with wat is highly, highly likely, that is all we can do in betting and it is more than reasonable to expect another very solid showing from the thunder bench, just as we saw in the previous games in oklahoma...slight regression from spurs reserves being away from home and a big step up from okc's after a pretty dismal effort last time out shud redress a rather glaring disparity and be worth as much as +15 points value perhaps from the final result in game 5.
no,to the average on-looker the thunder never had a chance (at a certain point in time this became obvious)in that 2012 finals and may not do this year either shud they get there......but the important thing is that the players BELIEVE they have a chance, and if they do strongly then,no matter how deluded others may think it is,then that is all that counts in terms of the drive to achieve their goal...i personally wudnt put it too much below that of the spurs, but will concede that with time running out it is put it all on the line time for san antone moreso than for any other team in terms of getting hardware RIGHT now.

as for popovich's line-up change, well obviously everything looks brilliant wen it comes off and i am in agreement with all others in labelling brooks a dunce for his ability(or lack there-of)to make any meaningful adjustments so dont really see a "counter" as such from him.....time will tell, but just remember that diaw and bonner,or whoever it is that plays in that slot,STILL has to hit shots and be effective to make the tactic continue to be viable....diaw cudnt do so last time in oklahoma and bonner cudnt even hit his shots at home......now they gotta get it done on the road in a hostile, desperate environment???.....of course not impossible, but i go with the odds and say that that change may not prove as effective second time around so long as the thunder are putting up points at the opposite end of the floor to alleviate pressure...will that stretch 4 produce this time around??if he aint hitting shots or being effective in some way then ibaka can stay down low and do wat he does.and on the flip side bonner/diaw can be a defensive liability  also if matched up with ibaka, expect him to improve from his last showing

So is the main point that if the Spurs give full effort and love their chances of winning game 7 seriously diminish?

I think he means the type of basketball they play as a team is nowhere near as high as the spurs play.

OKC dominates them on a 1 on 1 level. they can create their own shots off the dribble and if their jumpers (aka chuck shots) are falling they pretty much cannot lose. We've seen OKC struggle in low assist games. KD and Russ start forcing bad shots because the usual jumpers aren't falling for them. They play very simple but get away with it on a nightly basis because they are so much more athletic and talented than the other team's defenders. And this is really the case with SA. They are older and not as quick but overall team defense is very high. San Antonio beats them by trouncing them with high IQ offense and making the ball do all the work. The ball was moving around on a string all over the place last game. I didn't see SA take one contest shot because the ball movement was out of this world.

OKC is a tough place to play in when your the road team. Especially, when these guys are hungry and that athleticism will get an extra jolt from the home crowd. If they catch a rythm they'll win.... this is do or die for them. hard to back SA here to tell you the truth.

Mentally they are not on the same level..... i mentioned it before. NOw SA knows they have one more game on their own home court. They haven't won in OKC in a very long time. These teams are very evenly matched even though they play completely different ball. Lets face it if westbrook was healthy all season long there is a shot that OKC would have home court right now, it would be that close.

one things for certain these two teams are both going to go all out today. There will be no mental lapses, no questioning themselves and no hesitation. Spurs want to end this NOW and not risk a game 7, even if it is on their home floor. A game 7 is going to be a tough game for them, even Manu stated and felt a certain fear in his voice. OKC is playing for their season - it comes down to this today simple as that. I don't think there is going to be a blowout unless the refs manipulate it as so. My interest is who the league wants in the finals and if it's the Spurs i feel they will win today.

    Good Luck all

Excellent Write-up BeginnerBoy!  I love when my favorite cappers take the time to explain their picks in a write-up.  Thank you.

I wasn't sure about the game but after reading your post I locked in OKC and took them live -1.5.  GL!

tough one for us,beginner-boy...we didnt see anything we didnt already know.....thunder have the collective game-sense,savvy and sporting intelligence quotient of a box of rocks and spurs are a great team as opposed to a group of very good players.but i took the risk anyway on emotion and need as driving factors..didnt quite pan out as i envisioned, onto the next one

First and foremost, it's not about a win or loss on this board (it is when it comes to our bankroll), it's about the write-up. Pertinent INFORMATION, and argumentation is what matters and BB has become a LEADER on this board when it come to posts, and has smoked these 2014 playoffs.

And the write-up here was outstanding and clearly had a shot at winning.

But at the half, I'm looking at the box score and only 4 guys scored for the Thunder (knew I watched it but didn't believe it and had to check it).

And how does the game end in terms of contributions (a FULL second half and OT???): Only FIVE GUYS scored for OKC the entire game! Perkins didn't even attempt a shot! If only the refs called the fouls on Perk again to get that waste of space out of there sooner...

    Are you fu**in kidding me?????

I gotta tell ya, if I had the Thunder I would be absolutely LIVID with this bench performance which gave you ZILCH.

And the one guy who score a mere 5 points in 33 minutes is on his way to see Phil Jackson, and clearly has his mind on it.

Give me a break please. This is one of the biggest games in OKC history...

yep,we got the precise 180 degree opposite of wat i anticipated,scalabrine...wudnt matter if the crowd was 150,000 strong and never stopped cheering,it wont help a bunch of reserves that a)are afraid of the moment  b)play on a team that doesnt actually have a system they run which allows them to flourish..throwing the ball to either of 2 players every single time down does NOT count as a system and c)is up against a much superior group all things being equal(neutral court),which we knew coming in

    True, true.

It exemplifies why BB has aimed his defamation as Brooks all year long (which also was directed at Mark Jackson and I challenged him on it early in the season and he proved himself correct on him as well). There was no plan here. Your big two can only do so much and as the game wore on and on and on it was asking to much against a balanced Spurs attack and it fell just short but with teams this closely matched that "just short" cost OKC dearly.

i realise it is awfully simplistic to say after the final wash-up but if they had have been able to extricate 10 or 12 measly points out of their entire bench,in a home game that matters no less,it cud well have decided the game and left westbrook/durant a bit fresher down the stretch

Don't be mad because I had to call you out for formulating an argument about NBA refs that several people on this site agreed was idiotic.

I said, for this write-up, no it's not about a win or a loss.

Only a blind buffoon tails a pick and does nothing more.

It's about what's behind the pick and if you agree with it. He had a compelling argument for OKC.

And no, I did not say it was all the NBA was rigged and neither did BB. Go back and reread the thread where you claim we said that and we'll repeat everything we had to call you out on.

10 to 12!? That would be nice but they don't need that.

A SINGLE point in regulation wins it.

Great call. I see now...but was blind to that before the game. I was too set on OKC winning it this season and was wrong there. I think this game was obviously rigged for the Spurs to win.

But that being said, I think spurs win it all this year. They will want revenge from last season and Miami already has 2 in a row. Duncan and the spurs want ONE more!

Under 25 seconds to play and Durant SLIPS...lol had to be rigged. And then he goes 1 for 11 in OT....

I don't buy that he was just nervous. This game was rigged for Spurs the entire time.

    Thanks very much bud.

I'm glad I predicted the OT accurately, as I was dead wrong on OKC. But I still think the games are rigged, and whoever wins is who it's rigged for to win, ultimately. And tonight proved it was the Spurs. They even said on ESPN right now that they wanted the Spurs and Heat Rematch. Can't believe I didn't think about that before this series started.
