@davemsh
Of course it will flip but I’m still good at picks out that 38 win rate which is still a winning mark for under dog bettors when 2/1 -4/1 lines

good stuff hawk. i play it the same way you do more or less. made a decent fortune mostly betting dogs(on the spread, ML, inplay). it was pretty good for me about 4-5 years ago but the last several years have not been kind to me. nba is more offensive minded, faster pace, no defense.. its almost a crapshoot nowadays. nba seemed easier to bet on when teams could play some defense back in the day. this covid situation has helped the dogs giving them an edge this year.
i dont play nba now as much as i use to but i still have the dog mindset when i bet on nba. the same rules still apply. dont bet the obvious. dont bet logic. go against it and the grain. stats are baloney. its a long season. when you bet long enough you'll see patterns. just gotta learn how to pick your spots. easier said than done. when hedgehawk is preaching this advice "dont drink the juice" you should listen.

IS there any reason this same exact ML Dog strategy can't be applied to NHL underdogs or MLB underdogs? Those are the two primary sports I bet on and while neither has your traditional point spread like football and basketball, the same approach re money management and strictly focusing on dogs makes sense. Thank you Hedgehawk for this informative thread.

HEDGEHAWK, GOOD STUFF !!!
Hope you don’t mind me chiming in. I refuse to pay juice and by doing so I either take a ML dog which I prefer (NHL always DOG) or a ATS fav but I make the fav more and get plus money. I’ve been playing for decades and record keeping has shown me that spreads only came into play at a very very small percentage of the time. Example tonight I like Golden State and took Golden State Warriors earlier at -3.5 @ +104, and recently added Houston Rockets +3.5 @+107 and Houston Rockets +156 ML.
Whatever way one caps and how they decide to play is their own personal thing in my opinion. I know from experience that the pendulum swings both ways and I’m very happy with my method when I hit “SUBMIT” and I respect others methods of what works for them.
It’s the same as what sport works for us. Myself, NHL ML dogs and some totals (which I only play making them plus money) NBA as I wrote above and some totals but at plus money. Then NFL and some College football but past positive results lay with NHL and NBA.
Keep up the good work HEDGEHAWK and best to everyone whenever you hit “SUBMIT”

@Sakis_The_Greek
definitely MLB & NHL. all sports in general. but NHL & MLB has more parity youre better off going with dogs or small faves(if you have to)
cant speak for NHL but i like to fade pitching aces in MLB. game is won or lost by bullpen these days

When you posted yesterday the first thing you posted mentioned the cavs... were they not included yesterday? were you referencing a previous wager? It didn't seem super clear and can make it a little tougher to follow you.

I would use it in NHL over MLB the reason I say that it because Baseball there is no time clock / or there is no scoring on Defense and baseball being a game of failure so most of the time the score rarely fluctuates or go back and forth .
NHL WITH SMALLER GOALIE PADS AND REMOVING FIELD LINES PUSHES THE PACE AND SCORES AND YOU WILL SE HOCKEY DOGS GO UP AND THEN FAVS COME BACK LEAVING A LOT OF INPAY VAUE
