Going to watch it monday. Should be interesting. A little treat before Game of Thrones.

got a bad review so i'm not watching, but let me know if you like it.

Read that the pilot was a bit messed up but it gets better in ep 2 and 3.

have set up to record BOTH The Vikings AND The Bible tonight. IF The Bible is half as good as the recent History Channel series "The Men Who Built America" or "Mankind: The History of All of Us", it will be EXCELLENT

Didnt know about the Bible. Is it a drama documentary?

Yes. from the History Channel trailers it looks very similar to BOTH "The Men Who Built America" and "Mankind: The History of All of Us". dramatic depictions of "events" in the "BIg Book of person-ish Legends"

it's a ten hour series probably split into 5 two hour episodes. I would imagine that the 1st two hour are "The Snake & The Whale"

WELL I guess that ANY use of the word depicting the "semitic tribes of Abraham"  ist VERBOTEN on Covers. what a bunch of "Net Nanny's"

I watched the first episode and it was ok, sort of.  It's a little slow, and I'm not sure I'm ever going to give a damn about whether the plunder east or west.  I spent most of the episode trying to figure out how Gabriel Byrne wound up going from the Usual Suspects to this mess.  I'm sure Gabriel Byre probably spent most of the episode trying to figure out the same thing.  Would be nice if he gets to smite his agent in Episode 4. 

Wow. They are really trying to sex this thing up.

Some guys try to rape the wife. The brother wants to rape the wife. The ship builder is tripping balls.

I'm not sure how I feel about this show.

I liked it enough to keep watching...I was kinda hoping for it to be more like 'Mankind' or 'The Bible'...An overview of the Viking centuries and less like a drama tv series.

I forgot to mention this.

At the end of the first episode, there was a little preview of episodes to come. The montage hinted that they were going to sack some Catholic areas. That wasn't very weird.

What was weird is that they showed a scene hinting that the main character and his wife were inviting a priest/monk for a menage-trois. That is technically almost a rape right?

Anybody else notice this? The "History" channel.

Wrong again pal..It was clearly a documentary with footage of actual Vikings.

I have to agree with Dutch. they did cover the Vikings or "Russ" (Rowers) some in "Mankind" and how they settled Russia and the Baltic countries and their raiding of the British Islands. I guess this will cover it too BUT in a "drama" format. think there is a lot of "bird guano" BUT I DID find it somewhat entertaining. hopefully it will be better as it continues.

actually, I think "raiding east or west" IS kind of a big deal in the story. IF the Vikings had NOT gone west, they would NOT have had the impact on British history they did. also, would have never discovered and settled Iceland and gone all the way to North America well before the age of Colombus.

watched about 15 minutes of "The Big Book of Hebrew Fables" and that was enough "same old. same old" 

Tonights episode reminded me that a few yrs ago I read a book called 'The Last Kingdom'...It's the first in a series, but I lost interest..

A viking named Ragnar goes on a raid to Northumbria, a young English kid stands up to him, Ragnar likes him, takes him home, the kid slowly becomes a loyal Viking.

It's not exactly the same as this show..It's told from the viewpoint of the kid..The kid wasn't a monk etc...But close enough. Good book.

starting to lose interest in The Vikings. can't figure out why ANYONE would be loyal to Gabriel Byrne's character Earl Haraldson. the guy murders his lieutenants right and left and reminds me of some incompetent clueless executives I used to fly around when I was a corporate pilot years ago

No kidding. Who is writing this garbage? That offer to sleep with the wife was so stupid. And the part where he burns the face off the black smith was stupid too. They should fire the writers immediately.

I knew that "you can do my wife" was a freeking TRAP and killing or disfiguring the town blacksmith? THAT'S really BRILLIANT. like you DON'T need a blacksmith to service your OWN ships? complete FOLLISHNESS  

This show sucks friggin donkey balls. Its totally unrealistic. The dialogue is stupid.
