I like both shows, but you're way off here. The Simpsons has a lot more intelligent humour and smart referencing than Family Guy does. The difference is that The Simpsons weave them seamlessly and subtly into the story, so that even if you miss them you can still enjoy the show. Family Guy makes an entire scene out of them. For example, they recently had Peter and Lois re-enact an entire scene from Planes, Trains and Automobiles. I thought it was great, but if you've never seen the movie you'd just be sitting there like this 
for 2 minutes.

King of the Hill is absolutely awful. Its easily worst out of that list. Thats why it got cancelled, truly awful.

All in all, both shows were great in their prime.
Classic Simpsons(Season 1-8) was arguably some of the best comedy ever. It still hasn't lost it's appeal on me all these years later. I can watch these episodes over and over and keep laughing like it was brand new. Furthermore, I have yet to find another other show then perhaps Seinfeld that's as quotable as The Simpsons.
Family Guy has certainly has it's moments and I enjoy watching it from time to time. It's just a bit too much for me sometimes that it can turn me off.

Family Guy is clearly GROOMING on international scale by Seth MacFarland who would of course reap the rewards of a world full of little flamers.
Funny someone mentioned Howard, he broke barriers making it "funny" to talk about chicken choking. it's not that funny or interesting unless you are filled with shame about it and need a Sticky handed hero like stern to tell you that you are a good little solo eroticist, thats ok,
I am tired of trying to explain to my nephews mom that because it is a cartoon doesnt make it suitable for kids. it is pure poison with the happy baby and constant pushing of a transparent agenda.
do you remember being confused about sex? THAT WAS GOOD.
these kids are growing up way too fast these days and i pray for them every day

Family guy has a few sparse funny moments but an episode as a whole is such a boring and stupid insult to one's intelligence.
I hardly find this Seth McFarland funny at all. TED was terrible. Now he has some comedic western coming out where he is acting in it as well. Really stupid low brow humor.
Simpsons has been pretty irrelevant for a while, but in its day, Simpson's was a much better television series.
