The killing - Best crime show since sliced bread

Danish crime series from 2007. Now airing on BBC4 with hardcoded english subtitles.

Now i can imagine you will think, danish language and subtitles, ... run for the hills.

But dont... this is a mega succes in Europe and now in England. What makes "The killing" such an appealing show is that it gives nothing away as to who did it.

The acting is superb, the music works well and the cinematography underscore the theme of it all. 

The theme of it all is a murder, but there is other layers of rot in politics and society.

The brits are raving about it, they have forums with 100 pages of posts with debate and leads on suspects and such.

The brits almost all say that this is one of the best crime mystery's they have ever seen.

Each part signifies one day and it is a 20 parter.

As a side note, AMC doing an US version. Will problably be bollocks as usual, since part of its mystique is the bleak northern fall and winter.

il see if i can get a torrent..ill check out an episode..but i am wondering how can they make ONE murder so intriguing to the viewers in this day of ultra violence?? hmm.....

It is a slowly evolving plot. Lots of red herrings that leaves you guessing.

I am at episode 9 now and i still haven't got a clue who did it.

They are up at torrent, you need the bbc version though to get the subtitles.

Because it is a danish crima drama. Very addictive in its nature.

Okay hope you enjoy it. Anyway whatever you do, do not watch the US remake. It just saw a trailer for it... they cooked it down to 10 eps from the original 20... and it looks like shit compared to the original.

apparently, this is coming on A&E channel.  does anyone know if they are showing the american version or the original danish version?

I can not see anywhere that it should be aired at A&E... however it is AMC that is producing the US version... so i am pretty sure its the "copy" they will air starting april 3.

BTW do not go to youtube and look at the US preview. There are some disturbing spoilers there in the comments.

i'm finding it hard to get an entire episode list from IMDB, all i can find is the US version to air this summer

I got my DVR set to record the US version this Sunday and will for sure be watching this one.

In the original danish version there is 20 episodes. In the US version 10 episodes.

There is also a "The Killing II" in danish. That is 10 episodes... and right now they are working on the "The Killing III" which will also be 10 episodes.

The US version is shit. Everybody says that.

No but there have been trailers and articles that show what sort of actors and plotlines we can except.

I'll give the US version a shot.

AMC has been money on their shows lately.

Watched last night, the acting could have been a little better but, overall it was o.k. Show kept my interest and will be watching more episodes.

that's all we got. i don't knopw why the original version isn't on netflix if it's such a popular show. 

That former narco detective asking those girls to smoke pot and where to party was a buzzkillington. "So where can we party?"

And that supposedly leads to the big break in the case.......

That is just bad writing plain and simple. I liked it otherwise though

I thought that was a clever move Slik, luring those 2 girls with a little weed to get information that they couldn't obtain from the assemblies. The detective is trying to find a killer that could kill again. It was a brilliant strategy and it won't be the big break in the case, just another bit of it.
