The Departed....dont worry no spoilers...i didnt care for it

Saw this thing last Friday

1st off im glad Scorscese won because he shouldve won in the past BUT

 

i didnt really think this movie was all that good

1st 90 minutes or so i thought were boring. we get it, one guys undercover and one guys really a mobster.

then it was the same shit for 90 minutes, maybe longer .by the time they wrapped everything up i didnt give a shit.

 

Dicaprio was very good in it

Nicholson was a caricature

and how did Wahlberg get nominated for anything? he was hardly in the f'n thing

 

id give it like 6 out of 10 if i had to rate it.

 

am i the only person that didnt really care for this thing?

that was the best movie i have seen in years. You are the only one i have ever heard of that didnt like it.

I didnt care for it either. Too unbelievable.

For any asian cappers here, we all know this film was originally made in hong kong. the plot was different because the cop actually lived. the storyline was similar but its original was much much better.

 

i saw this movie and thought " wtf?" ..however the acting was amazing i must say

NJDevils -  I agree with you.  I thought it was very boring until the end.  Also, the movie got so much hype from the Oscars and everybody I talked to said how great it was.  I think I went into it with too much anticipation and then was let down.  Not a great movie.  It was just ok.  Great cast and acting though.

i liked the movie alot.  this was a change of pace from other gangster movies, as nicholson and his crew definately weren't your "oridinary" organized crime crew.  they seemed alot more sloppy and dysfunctional, with nicholson as the boss having alot more hands on activity, as opposed to a godfather character, or paulie from goodfellas.  the acting was brilliant, especially wahlberg and dicaprio. 

im a big scorcese fan, although i havent seen all of aviator, and gangs of ny didnt do much for me.  i enjoyed the departed more than casino and raging bull(although both great movies in their own right) but not as much as goodfellas

I think I went into it with too much anticipation and then was let down.

I loved Gangs of NY as well. Very underated. Daniel Day Lewis was phenomenal, and so was Leonardo. I think alot of people may have been turned off at the length of that movie. But hands down, Goodfellas was the best.

Hated Gangs of New York but loved this one!

I thought the movie was good but he made so many movies that were a lot better.  I'm happy for Scorsese in winning an Oscar for it but it sucks that it was a mercy win.  That shows how dumb the academy is, he had to cast Dicaprio, Nicholson, Whalberg, and Damon just to be considered for a win at the oscars, and not just a nomination filler. 

 

He should have won 5 oscars and this should have been the one he lost.  This is why I hate the academy awards it's all bullshit Hollywood advertisement and ass kissing.  

i didn't like the ending,  but the first 3/4 of the movie was awesome!

and IMO it was a great movie.

 

My neighbor just burned me the DVD last night, so I'll watch it 2night. I barely read this thread for fear of spoilers..

I thought Marky Mark was awful. He didn't seem believable to me at all. I couldn't believe he got nominated.  The movie was good though.  7-8/10

Wasn't a good year in the movie making business at all. Scorse finally cashed in on this one though.

funny for 17 minutes and then poooof, crap cra'p and more crap.

Goodness, the whole lot of movies on that big "O" card were lame.

Oh and how sad is it when "The Departed" can even be placed in the same hemisphere with "Goodfellas?"
