The Conspirator (2010) Robin Wright, James McAvoy, Tom Wilkinson
Mary Surratt is the lone female charged as a co-conspirator in the assassination trial of Abraham Lincoln. As the whole nation turns against her, she is forced to rely on her reluctant lawyer to uncover the truth and save her life.
3 dog bones. This was a good one. This was basically a conflict between revenge for the death of the president vs the constitution that a person is innocent until proven guilty. The higher ups didn't care about the law for this crime, they wanted anyone associated with the death of Lincoln to be hung. Good performances by McAvoy and Wright.

VERY well acted historic drama that did NOT get the attention it deserved. I rated it of four
Courage Under Fire (1996) well acted Gulf War drama about the investigation of IF a posthumous Medal of Honor should be awarded to a female medevac helicopter commander KIA on a mission to save a trapped shot down Black Hawk crew. story is told thru "flash back" and has good action in the battle scenes. also has some crazy "plot twists" and thought it was well acted by all involved including Denzel Washington, Meg Ryan, Lou Diamond Phillips, Michael Moriarty, Scott Glenn and early work by a skinny Matt Damon
plays again on HD Net Movies Saturday March 28th @ 4:20pm & 8:30pm pacific time. I rate it of four
Jefferson in Paris (1995) historical drama with emphasis on Jefferson's relationship with both his black slaves Sally Hemings and her brother James along with his work with the French court of Louis XVI shortly before the French Revolution. stars Nick Nolte as Jefferson, Gwyneth Paltrow as his daughter Patsy, a very young Thandie Newton as Sally Hemings and Seth Gilliam as James Hemings. rather slow movie BUT interesting history for those who enjoy "costume dramas". did NOT see it scheduled to play in the near future. I rate it of four

Epic (2013) CGI fantasy "good vs evil" adventure with pretty much non-stop action and kind of an interesting plot. runs a short 100 minutes and I enjoyed it. the one warning I have is that there are scenes that might frighten young children. it is NOT a "cute" film and is more for teens or older. it is NOT to be confused with Epic Movie (2007) which is pretty much schlock. plays again on HBO-Family Thursday march 26th and again Wednesday April 1st on HBO both East and West. I rate it of 4

Horrible Bosses 2- Tough call here for me.... not as good as the first (as expected), but did have some laughs.... Jennifer Aniston still hot as hell playing the sex addict ex-boss of Charlie Day. Was definitely better than Dumb & Dumber To, but that's not saying much and that is why I can't really decide if it was decent or not.

Conspiracy Theory (1997) action-mystery thriller staring Mel Gibson as cab NYC cab driver/conspiracy nut Jerry Fletcher who is constantly pestering US government lawyer Alice Sutton played by Julia Roberts with his perceived theories. turns out, one effecting Alice and Jerry is true and the people involved led by a Dr. Jonas, played by Patrick Stewart, come after both of them. lots of action and chases and a fast moving drama BUT a bit long at 2 hours 15 minutes. probably could have told the story just as well with 30 minutes cut out
worth watching for action fans and plays again on Encore-Suspense channels again Monday March 30th and Tuesday March 31st. also repeats on Encore-Classic Thursday April 2nd. I rate it of four

lucky you, just about every big poker player from poker after dark featured in at least cameos good plot but the showing collusion at the main event final table a bit odd Seeing the practice is completely forbidden . still good acting from drew Barrymore Robert duval.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014). had a Dish-TV PPV comp and used it for this movie. I think a reviewer from Rotten Tomatos said it best. "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is just a long, slow teaser for next year's grand finale, Mockingjay - Part 2". NOT a lot of action in this one and really NO compelling new characters although Julianne Moore does join the cast as District 13 President Alma Coin. I would NOT spring for a DVD or PPV. found it really kind of "meh". neither of the two "followup" movies were nearly as good as the first. is notable that it is the late Philip Seymour Hoffman's last movie. I rate it of four
The Wiper Times (2013) BBC TV movie about a trench magazine that was published by British soldiers fighting on the front lines of Ypres, Belgium during WWI. it is typical British "dark humor" about the war and pretty funny in spots. The paper consisted of poems, reflections, wry "in-jokes" and lampoons of the military situation the Ypres Division was in. was a thorn in the side of the British General Staff pointing out that they they didn't know what the situation really was at the front and were pretty much incompetent. plays again on Showtime-Showcase Friday April 3rd @ 5:35am pacific time. I rate it of four

Edge of Tomorrow (2014) SciFi "war of the worlds" style action thriller with a really weird "flash back" plot BUT has pretty much non-stop action and pretty cool alien monsters. the battle scenes CGI is outstanding. gets pretty goofy with with the main character played by Tom Cruise getting killed in battle BUT, because of a time warp, coming right back to life. I would actually rank it above Cruise's last Sci-Fi Oblivion (2013). plays again on HBO-Signature Thursday April 4th, Saturday April 6th and on HBO east & west channels Monday April 6th. I rate it of four
