In Bruges (2008) VERY entertaining "gangster comedy-drama" with Colin Farrell , Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes. thought it was well acted and had a number of quite funny sight gags and one liners. had somewhat of a "Guy Ritchie style" feel to it. definite must see IF you like movies like Snatch or Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

I was bored and this movie worked out great. Its a slasher movie but I laughed my ass off. Definitely a 1-star rated movie by hollywood standards but it was fun to watch.

Rat, Watched" Kill the Irishman" because I'd seen a doc on TV. Not a bad little movie. Enjoyed it. They didn't develop the characters very well but still interesting to step over that line into underworld mania.
"Collateral" was a good action movie. Tom Cruise usually comes thru in his movies. He creeps me out but is a good actor.
I thought "Sleepy Hollow" was close to unwatchable. Big fan of J. Deep but not this time. Don't know if that Ricci chick is worth bragging about as a actress but love watching her.
Wow, we aren't agreeing on this one at all. I liked "Bananas" and "Sleeper" when I was a kid and during that period they were funny if you smoked enough pot. Today, not so much for me. "The Front" on the other hand was Woody moving into his next and much better stage of writing and directing. The scenes with real actors and writers who had been black listed were very good and Zero Mostel was brilliant for me. Couldn't you see the pain this guy had? Woody needed to make intelligent movies and after "The Front" came "Annie Hall, "Manhattan", "Crimes and Misdemeanors", and "Hannah's Sisters". Woody has made some bad movies (real bad) but I think "The Front" was a milestone that led to better things.
Oh yeh, I've Seen "The Guard" and found Gleesons acting commendable but the movie itself was haphazard and a little predictable for me.
"Inherit the Wind" was fantastic. Classic. It's hard for some of those old movies to handle the test of time (the studios made shit cause they could) This was one of those pics that had great acting and writing with little pretense. Great writing and great acting! That usually works!

Oh yes, you might like this, a guy named Leon Helm has a nice part in this pic. Ever heard of him??Not a bad cast for a quickly made Indie. It's not slick and fancy but maybe something to save for when your in the mood for something real.
I don't know that these guys are friends but they both seem to be individualist who have some guts. Both sell out and make crap movies but nice to see they care enough to put time and money into this sort of film.

Pecador, IF you want to see a REALLY good relatively unknown Robert Duvall movie, I just watched Secondhand Lions (2003) also with Michael Caine. it's funny, fast paced, has some good action and is just an overall FUN movie. it's on the STARZ Kids & Family again tuesday Oct 23rd and STARZ Edge Sunday Oct 28th.
Rat, Seen it and totally agree. That is a fantastic movie. The relationship between Caine and Duvall is heart warming. The friendship is palatable even when they argue about the boy and other things. The way they accept him into their lives. The issues with his mom and then a not so bad ending. I'm not that big a fan of fantasies but that one was done very well.
I might start a thread someday about how actors grow as the get experience. So many actors have their best performances after they hit 50. I like English movies and I guarantee you Caine was so miscast when he was younger. Paul Newman is one of my icons but some of that early shit is embarrassing. The list goes on and I'd love to hear other peoples thoughts. I'll start the thread this afternoon but I'll be a terrible moderator. To lazy!

Murray Abraham as Arnold Rothstein, Michael Gambon as Salvatore Maranzano (aka Faranzano in the movie) and Anthony Quinn as Joe "The Boss" Masseria. relatively unknown actor Nicholas Sadler was outstanding as psyco hit man Mad Dog Coll. GREAT "mob history" that pretty much chronicles the rise of the New York Mafia during prohibition. definately worth watching IF your into "mob movies"

I never get tired of talking movies and throwing out opinions so I'm gonna join in on this "Accused" thing. Foster was better than she was in "Lambs" . watched Fritz Lang's 1931 German classic "M" (aka "Morder unter Uns" - The Murderer is among Us)" on TCM last night. it's about the hunt for a seriel murderer of childern and was Lang's first 'talkie". it was Peter Lorre's first staring roll as Hans Beckert the murderer and set the stage for his career playing rather "creepy" parts. excellent plot and acting and well worth renting or recording IF your into "early German classics", definate in my opinion
