I'm pretty pumped. Currently have a 50" Toshiba projection tv that is 11 yrs old. Having a little problem with the projection so it was time. Was a solid tv but not comparable to today's new flatscreens.
Bought the new one at Circuit City. 1st purchase there. Was very happy with the service and knowledge there. Just fed up with the service and lack of knowledge at Best Buy. Added a sweet stand for it and a 3 yr warranty so I'll have at least 3 yrs of worry free kick ass sports watching.

good job in getting the 3 yr warranty. I'm a big believer in those, and have saved a ton with that purchase.
I think it's about like most insurance--a big moneymaker for those selling it.
But I mainly bought it for peace of mind and convenience. It's in-home service so I don't have to mess with taking it somewhere. I know for 3 yrs I won't have to mess with it. It was $280 but since I purchased that it gave me 10% off the stand and cables which saved me about $40. You never know so I played it safe.

how many of the new plasmas have issues in the first 3 years ? hell how many tv's from the 60's have issues the first 3 years?
280 will buy you a new one in a couple years anyway.
$280 won't buy one in a few years. Not a 50".
I hope I don't have any issues with it. But $280 gives me peace of mind for 3 yrs and that to me is worth it even if I don't have any problems. Individual decision.
I bought a 50" projection 11 yrs ago and within a year I blew a fuse in it. Simple repair fixed in my home. Warranty came in handy then.

I debated for awhile to go smaller and get the 1080p but the more I read the 720p suits me fine. 1080p is geared toward movie watchers on Blu Ray and game players. The picture quality isn't much different until you go bigger than 50". I'm not a big movie watcher and already have a HD DVD player. I'm not a video game player. No channels broadcast in 1080p and won't for at least a few years. 4" smaller would've cost $300 more. The quality on this tv will suit me fine.
