I disagree! 
It COULD be a much better show if they cut out 60% of the cute stuff... and just tell me the score and show me the highlights.
I absolutely HATE when they try to show how cute/smart/funny they are with boring/irrelevant info. Just tell me score!!! Example: "The last time the Cubs win 5 games in a row, Clinton was in office - and his Sec of State was Maddy Albright. Well, was an all bright day in Wrigley today as...."
WTF does that mean?!?! They do this kind of crap all the time! Granted, I just made that up, but this is the kind of BS they subject us to. Granted, some times they do have funny little tidbits... and it's cool. But it's just overdone at times.
But not just that - if you're a gambling man or even just a true sports fan, some of their highlights are REALLY deceiving. They don't show the true scope of the flow of a game... sometimes it's tighter or more one-sided than the score would suggest. But their hightlight packages don't always convey that.

Sportscenter blows. It peaked around 1996, and now it's just a caricature of it's old self. I've never really knew what that old cliche meant until I tried to describe ESPN now vs. how it used to be. It's so schlocky and contrived, it's not even funny.
What's my vote for best show on TV? Locked Up Abroad on Nat Geo. Too bad they make less than 10 episodes a year. :(

The Sopranos hands down. The writing was superb (as most HBO's shows are, IE: The Wire 
)
Matthew Weiner was a writer on The Sopranos and is now the writer of Mad Men, another amazing show.
Terrence Winter was also a writer on The Sopranos and is now a co writer on the up coming HBO show Boardwalk Empire along with Martin Scorsese. Which looks pretty good if you've seen the previews and it's Marty F'N Scoresese, how can it not be incredible
