i know i'm dating myself here
but when people talk about live concert recordings
i always think of the big 12 inch albums

Frampton comes alive

Kiss - Alive
this was " the " live album when it first came out
but 30 years later,
we now know that some of the LIVE was added in/mixed in a recording studio

so what's your choice for best LIVE album/performance ?

live bullet to me is still the best live album, you could only wish all live shows were recorded as well.

If you're not familiar with UFO, check out these tracks off the CD: Love to love.........Lights out.........Rock Bottom..........Doctor Doctor..........Too hot to handle.

Odds are you've heard them on the radio sometime...............if you're 30 or older anyhow.

Nirvana - Unplugged in New York. I thought it was the best live album 10 years ago and I still do.

It's excellent........

Perhaps I should temper my enthusiasm for my own taste in music. I know there are lots of Bob Seger fans & I didn't mean to sleight anyone. UFO & Seger are two different types of rock.

While I like some Seger songs, my choice for best live album isn't based on me being a huge Seger fan, it is based on what I think is one of the best recorded live shows you can come across, it sounds awsome and captured the energy of a live show perfectly.  It was recorded in a bigger venue and not a small acoustic show, which makes it even more impressive to me.  And 30+ years later, it still sounds great.

The weird thing is those songs all sound way better on that live show than they sounded recorded on the studio albums.

I found the same thing with the UFO live album. I have the "Lights Out" CD, but the live one (also recorded some 30 years ago) sounds much better. I like the improvisation done on the songs too. Some bands can ruin a song live but these were all good.

If you want to see & hear an excellently recorded show (on DVD), get "The Eagles: Farewell Tour...........Live from Melbourne". The picture quality & camera work are both top notch as is the 5.1 audio. It's a joy to watch & listen to.
