The Reds? definitely a streaky team. They just ripped off a 6-1 run, but now dropped two straight. Chase Burns is getting the ball today. He has the potential as touted, and had a solid outing last time, but he is still fairly unpredictable right now.
But honestly, the bigger story is the Nats FINALLY shaking off that awful slump. Yeah, they’re still just 5-11 in July, but they’ve won two of their last three and yesterday’s 10-8 win finally showed some life at the plate. Offense woke up, James Wood and a few others busted out of their funks. Brad Lord is a bit of a wild card...but he is versatile, as the Nats have used him all kinds of ways, and the Reds haven’t seen him before, so that’s gonna work in his favor.
I just think Washington keeps raking today, whether it’s off Burns or the Reds pen. Cincy probably needs another game or two before they get it together again.
