This stuff happens everyday, but it only got nationwide news cause the guy was a Giants fan.  I'm pretty sure someone is getting hit with a baseball bat right now, but no one will hear about it.

all due respect, but that's a fucking cop out.  true, this happens all the time, but this was in an arena where there is visibility over something so so stupid.   we got in a group fight in college and my friend was hit in the back of the skull with a tire iron.  he lost most of his sense of smell and taste and was in coma for quite a while.

just because this happened does not make the sf/lad story any less horrifying and it shouldn't for anyone else either.  just my opinion.

God bless the Stow family, especially his children. These cowardly, oxygen-stealing, worthless piece of shat gangbangers that did this deserve to be beaten with baseball bats for the next 25 years.

Give me two minutes with these losers with only a sand wedge and we can call it even.

No, if a fan was put in a coma due to a fight right after a baseball game ended, you would hear about it -- regardless if it's the Giants, Yankees, or Royals.  That stuff doesn't happen "every day".

Now, granted, if it was the Yanks/Sox, it'd be the lead headline on ESPN any time a new development on the case happened.

the platform makes it a nation wide event. thugs go to games with a different agenda, and bully fans cheering  their team, not looking for a fight. brian stow becomes another awful example. it is very sad that a man almost lost his life for people to realize how much of an issue this is at stadiums world wide. will people act differently when going to a game now? will there be better security to aid fans, now? a man almost lost his life for change to happen. so sad. we can do the right thing in every day situations to make those ugly instances become apart of the past. set a better example.

sad , sad story indeed.  i want to add that even though we all agree barry bonds is a total dickhead, he did make a very decent humanitarian gesture by visiting stow and family at the hospital and offering to pay for his kids college education.  at least this gesture is something his family can take some comfort in for losing a father and husband.  mother fuckers, i wanna kill those bastards too fuck you losers

So his friends "tried to shield him with their bodies?  Am I missing something or did his friends actually did nothing to fend off the attackers??  Friends don't "shield", they throw a few punches themselves.  Random, kind-hearted people who are witnessing this fight shield..

DVR, I was thinking the exact same thing. There were at least 2 other men with him in their group of friends at the game & they couldn't do better than 'try & shield him"? I know these two guys were fairly big, gang looking thugs, but as long as there aren't any weapons involved any real man would be in there trying to help his friend after he got suckered & then continually kicked in the head! His friends should be ashamed of themselves. Hopefully, Sanchez & Norwood both go to jail for at least 20 years.

Hundreds of murders happen every day, so I'm pretty sure people get beat up into a coma everyday.  I'd rather be in a coma than dead.  At least with a coma, there is still a good chance to lead a normal life, while murder, your life has ended

It's better to be in a coma, because at least other people will feel sorry for you and pay for your kids' education, and give your family money, ike what has happened with Bryan Stow. If you die from a gunshot bullet, your family won't get anything except an "I'm sorry".  Remember when a Giants fan got killed in an Angels parking lot during the 2002 World Series, only a 3 sentence blurb in the newspaper, and I'm sure his family didn't get money from concerned baseball fans.
