I am finally going back to full time handicapping, which means I will have the time to start back with my old research, and my excel spreadsheet. Hopefully this gets me where I usually am in baseball.
POD * Pittsburgh first 5 -135 20 units/14.81 units Seattle is coming off of a traveling day coming from Toronto. Pitts have had the comfort of home cooking the last day, so they should be well rested. Harang is starting for Seattle (8.68 ERA, 1.61 WHIP), and he has even been worse than that the last 3 (9.88, 1.68). His ERA is over 15 away from home. Pittsburgh scores about 1.5 runs more against RHP than LHP. Pittsburgh counters with Gomez coming off his only start of the year. Pittsburgh is a very good home team and should get some early runs. Pitts 8-2.
2.Oakland/Cleveland over 4.5 first 5 10 units/9.5 units Both starters (Milone 3.69,1.18 and McAllister 4.08,1.42) have been pretty good to start the season. The Indians score nearly two runs more per game vs LHP. These pitchers are a combined 8-3 for the over on the year. These teams are 23-7 to the over factoring in the home/away. Milone's ERA jumps over 6 on the road. Cleveland 7-4.
3.Cincy ML-116 15 units/12.93 units Bailey and Medlin have the exact same ERA for the year(3.38). But over the last 3 Bailey has pitched much better with an ERA 2 runs less. Bailey has been sensational at home with 20 IP and an ERA of less then a run, and has been ever better at night (21IP .43 ERA). Factor in that Cincy is very hard to beat at home, I like them to win. Cincy 4-1.
4.Minny/Boston under 9 10 units/9.5 units Diamond (3.97, 1.37) and Dempster (3.00, 1.14) have pitched OK this season, but have even been better as of late. They are a combined 7-2 to the under for the year. Red Sox score almost 2 less runs vs LHP, while Minny scores almost 1.5 runs less vs RHP. Boston 4-2.
5. Underdog POD Philly+130 5 units/6.5 units

San Fran-154 Barry Zito takes the mound today trying to improve on his recent success. His has an ERA of 3.06 and WHIP of 1.45. His ERA over his last 3 is 1.15. Even better is his ERA at home. In 26 IP, his ERA is .35. Philly counters with Pettibone, who has been good himself. I don't see SF getting swept at home by a mediocre team. SF 4-1
