I don’t really use historical betting data or trend stuff. That’s just not my style. I’m more into Baseball Savant, Statcast, current form, pitch profiles, matchups, underlying numbers, stuff like that.
The whole Team X is 12-2 on Thursdays after a loss type of angle just doesn’t move the needle much for me.

The good news is I felt like we saw things pretty clearly this morning. The Milwaukee over made sense, but that lineup scared me off. In the end it didn’t matter, and San Diego looks like they’re taking care of business.
Just keeping the same headspace now, staying patient, and seeing if we can grab one late…

10 of the first 14 Padres batters reached base vs. the very hittable Tanner Gordon, who began the inning by throwing a meatball to Xander Bogaerts that landed 441 feet away in the left field bleachers.
Gordon could’ve escaped the top of the 2nd giving up “just” 4 runs, but he has Zac Veen manning right field for him today. With runners on the corners with two outs, Veen ran in to attempt a sliding catch but he dropped it. He simply dropped it. Then the next batter lined a hit in his direction and Veen dove headfirst with the ball landing nowhere near him. Pretty embarrassing stuff.

Mets first five -1/2
I like the pitching matchup here. McLean has been the more consistent arm and the Phillies haven’t been doing much damage against right-handed pitching lately. Nola has pitched better recently, so I’m not trying to lay a big price, but at even money I’m willing to take a closer look.

Boston first five -1/2
This one is mostly about Sonny Gray and the Texas pitching setup. Gray has been excellent, Texas has struggled against right handed pitching, and the Rangers are opening with Alexander before going to Bradford. Boston hasn’t exactly been crushing lefties lately so there’s some risk, but I still like the pitching edge enough to take a closer look
