Listen, I know we’re on the square side tonight. I get it. But Gallen has been a fucking trash can with the lid off, and Tampa has the bats in there to make him pay.

We’re at home, we’ve got the cleaner arm, no weather bullshit, and Arizona’s lineup doesn’t scare me. They’ve got a couple guys with sticks  fine. Tampa has the better setup tonight.

Zac Gallen’s contact-quality has been ugly. He’s allowing a 90+ mph average exit velocity, over 43% hard contact, and a barrel rate around 9%. That tells me hitters are not just reaching base  they’re squaring him up

2.73 ERA, 89.0 IP, 55 strikeouts, 1.16 WHIP. So from a plain betting standpoint, he’s been giving Tampa length and keeping the damage down.

This is the part I like most. Martinez is allowing only 86.8 mph average exit velocity, 31.7% hard-hit rate, and 6.6% barrel rate. Those are clean run-preven Numbers 

His actual wOBA allowed is .297, while his xwOBA is .329. That means he may be running a little better than the underlying number

He is not some overpowering swing-and-miss monster. With 55 strikeouts in 89 innings, he’s more contact-management than wipeout stuff
