Or if he didnt plan it, it developed into a great idea once this "injury" surfaced in camp.

Very curious to see how Conor deals with Chad's wrestling.  If he's able to stuff enough takedowns he's going to win.  If he can fend off Mendes' wrestling we will know Conor is very special.  But I need to see it first.  And to be honest, Conor needed to beat Mendes or Edgar, for me, to get a shot at Aldo.  So this solves that.

Aldo is employing a shrewd play here.  I do indeed believe he fears Conor a bit.  By pulling out this makes Conor earn his shot at him.  I also think Aldo believes Mendes has a decent chance to beat Conor with his wrestling. If Chad beats Conor, Jose doesnt have to beat him.  Conor would then need to beat Frankie just to get back into the front of the line to face Aldo.  I also think, and this may be a bit of a stretch, that Aldo may not be a clean fighter.  The new testing is in place now and there's a chance he may feel he needs that "extra boost" against Conor and would like to face him later in the year in Brazil - where we know Jose will get a favorable testing schedule.  Just a thought.

Good thoughts.  I was also curious about Jose and the possibility for PEDs.  He does sometimes seem super-jacked.  In any event, I have rewatched all of Conor's UFC performances and have finally jumped on the bandwagon.  I never saw it, but I bet Conor's TDD is pretty damn good.  The guy has a blabbermouth but he is a ridiculous athlete - at least on the level of Mendes or Aldo, but he is is bigger and more flexible.  Add in the incomplete training camp for Chad and I'm going all in on Conor - just wish I had done it a little earlier.

Aldo didn't want out. This is the biggest payday any fight under LW has ever been made. The match up could be lost forever, as you indicate re: Frankie (I also said the same thing in another thread yesterday)

His TDD hasn't been significantly tested because he's only had to fight strikers

there is absolutely zero proof right now that conner can take a punch as hes never been tested

wouldnt be surprised at all if mcgregor is hit one time clean and ktfo cold as there is nothing saying otherwise

just because he is a great striker does not mean that he has a great chin 

my guess is that mendes, who has an excellent chin, is going to go right at conner as was the case in the cain/jds rematch

Holloway tested that chin for 15 minutes and didn't get very far. Mendes does have heavy hands though.

I'm gonna call a spade a spade.  Aldo is a user.  How many times is this guy gonna try to get his biggest toughest fights rescheduled to Brazil? You KNOW he's gonna try to get this next fight there as well.  Hell, his 2 toughest fights were vs Mendes and both were in Brazil.  Now with the more stringest testing I'd expect him to push to get even more fights placed there where he knows he wont be tested or barely tested.  I respect his skills but dont trust this guy as far as I can throw him.  I doubt very much that he's a clean fighter.

The NSAC gave Aldo medical clearance.  Uh yeah I'm gonna believe them over some scum commission south of the border.

Holloway who I really like either hurt his foot or ankle early in that fight. Conor hurt his knee during that fight as well.

I agree.  This whole thing has really put a huge spotlight on Aldo's actions.  I liked that on the conference call today, McGregor and Mendes were both adamant that the "unification bout" would take place in Ireland/USA, and not in Brazil.

I would assume both fighters have been tested atleast a couple times heading into the fight. I really doubt there's anything stopping this fight than the hurt rib. 

Sonnen estimated Aldo would make 3.5M on this fight. Both fighters are losing huge here

I will also say it's a silly that the UFC is making Mendes MCG an interim title. They are trying to save their ass and PPV #s. But going forward will they do this everytime a title holder gets hurt?

This is the doctor you hire?! The is the best guy to set the record straight?! As significant as this bad doc, is it possible those are fake XRays. It seems even a layman could see a break. There should have been no confusion when this shook down

Those xrays are so fake its not even funny.  That xray shows a SHATTERED rib, not a fracture but a CLEAN BREAK.  Nevada commission would never clear him with a clearly broken rib.  And Dana White would never say "calm down everyone its just a bruise, no fracture".  This is a total crock of sh*t.  I smell a big rat.
