He will have the size advantage, but keep in mind that his knee was destroyed by a leg kick in his last fight 14 months ago. Now he faces Alves who is the #1 leg kicker in the UFC. He is going to leg kick the hell out of Condit which for Condit means best case scenario his reach advantage is negated, worst case his knee gets reinjured. Alves kick power is off the meter, and he lands them in high volume.

100% - I mentioned in another thread that I'm not rushing out to bet hm like others seem to be. I figured it would be close - But those face to face shots at the presser shocked me how long Carlos is in comparison

I'd be on Alves or off that. I might be more willing to entertain Condit if this fight were a pickem, but I see no upside here. He may be longer than Alves but Alves packs huge power for the division. I go back to the kicks. Alves finished Jordan Mein with a body kick knockout. Don't underestimate the seriousness of Condits injuries. He tore his MCL and Miniscus. Carlos can talk about how he feels better than before, but he's fooling himself. He is in decline, plain and simple, and those type of injuries have lasting impacts and those ligaments can get torn again. If I'm Alves, I am attacking that knee with leg kicks and definitely looking for a kneebar.

Yea and neither of those examples is an active fighter, for what it's worth. And I would point out Dominick Cruz as the obvious counterpoint. Adrian Peterson should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Carlos Condit. Check out this study: https://www.aaos.org/news/aaosnow/aug13/clinical1.asp

cain came back and so did gsp with what would appear to be no significant decline in their fights immediately after knee surgery
rua also looked good after his knee surgeries beating lyota twice(the first fight was a complete robbery).
and adrian peterson is not a mma fighter but its safe to say that hisknee is put under as much or more pressure making cuts and getting tackled by 350 pounds lineman that can bench press 600 pounds and squat 800.
im not disagreeing with your play on alves just your thinking that condit is going to re injure his knee as an angle

The angle is that Condit won't trust his knee. It's a huge problem that athletes deal with when they are first coming back off an injury like that. They don't have that 100% trust right away
