I'd like to know if you wagered your picks as exacta box, or trifecta box, or just exacta, trifecta, or place to show , or first horse to win and box with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th horse to show?

I came to a horse race window today to place bets.

They asked me how do I want to place the wagers, I did not know what to tell them

kenph, every race is a different betting situation depending on the odds about 5-10 minutes to post. On a win bet, I wouldn't take less than 3-1 and I NEVER bet to show. A place bet rarely but at 8-1 minimum odds. The thing is you have to require value on any bet you place! Plus the amount you wager depends solely on your bankroll, IMO. Since your new to this game, I would suggest going to drf.com and checking out the primer on there.

I would also suggest you stick to just win betting (on paper) when starting out because this game is not easy.

The picks I post are always in order of preference BUT as I said the odds do change my preference a lot of the time. Sorry I can't be of more help but the best way to learn is by doing and see what works for you.
