Hello Covers Community. I personally will not be in Saratoga today, but I spoke to someone this morning who is in town. NYRA is considering shortening the times between races today due to the prospect of thunderstorms moving through the area late this afternoon. If you have visited Saratoga this time of the year, you know how wicked those storms can be. They kind of get compressed by three mountain ranges and, wow, can it get nasty!
If the track is affected by weather, almost all the horses in the Belmont Stakes have some off track pedigree. I’m excited for my pick, because his sire is Into Mischief (who produces progeny that relish it wet), and who is out of Kentucky Derby winner Orb (who splashed through the stretch in Louisville). I think the trainer with a long day ahead watching the radar will be Cherie Devaux. She doesn’t want a sloppy track for Golden Tempo.
