NYC's Last Horse Racing Track Is Closing Forever

Sadly, I was living in Los Angeles, California when Hollywood Park went through the same sad demise! SOFI Stadium now stands in its place.

The 1st track I attended growing up was Yonkers where the trotters race. But my 1st thoroughbred track was Aqueduct. It was beautiful. Not as nice as Belmont but beautiful in it's own way. I'm glad they interviewed trainer David Donk who always wears a Jets hat. I've shared a story about him that I'll share again.

One day leaving the track & in the parking lot we heard a bunch of car horns blaring & thought there was some kind of traffic accident & New Yorkers are very impatient especially in traffic. A guy heard us talking about the car horns & said no no it's not a traffic issue. They are honking their horns for trainer David Donk who for whatever reason has a tendency to win the last race on many racing cards. He won the last race that day, thus the car honking. It's the "Honk for Donk" myth. 

I've posted his last race horses in here for quite awhile but have stopped & I really don't know why. However, I will always put $2 across the board every time I see it. I've lost more than I've won but I'm a "Honk for Donk" devotee.
