I used to hangout in the paddock area & walking ring all the time. Then I realized they had a clubhouse with air conditioning as I got older. HAAA
Love watching the owners speaking with trainers; the owners shaking hands with the jocks; trainers speaking to the jocks giving them last minute instructions & then the jock looks up at the tote board & I always wonder what are they thinking?
Do they say the board has me as the favorite but my nag has no shot at winning? Or are they saying, "Holy shit they got me at 17-1 & I'm going to blow away the field on this baby!" It's all part of the capping experience to me. I love it!
As the jocks come around in the walking ring, if I make eye contact with any of them I always wish them a safe trip. You'd be surprised how much they appreciate it. In fact that's how I met trainer Georgina Baxter. She's a small barn trainer & she's had a few nice horses. Anyway, she heard me wish her jockey a safe trip & acknowledge it with like a positive head nod. She wins the race & we were standing by the winner's circle where they take pictures. After that was done, she saw me came over & asked if we ever play Tampa Bay Downs. I can't cash a check betting Tampa if I was given the winner before the race started but we said "yeah, sure!" She told us she had a horse racing in the finale at Tampa & gave us the name. The horse won but she must have told everyone at the damn track her horse was going to win & I think it paid like $2.80 to win. But the experience was so cool. I think I was like in my late 20's when I was a true degenerate.
It's so easy to play from home, so I do. But I want to let you know how much that feed you posted brought back the whole backside of the track memories. I'll be watching that fee instead of what TVG/FanDuel provide anytime I have a play to make. It's really cool!
Thanks Freddie!
