#7 OBLITERATION ML 7/5..been on this colt since he broke his maiden @ Churchill back in June 25 winning by 7 @ 10-1 for Asmussen. He ran a closing 3rd in the Woody Stephens when Englishman blew away the field by 5. Asmussen chose Jose Ortiz to ride here as Johnny V moves to Pletcher's #2 Local Knowledge.
#4 Gilded Bandit ML 9/2...ran 4th in the same race as Obliteration when he passed tired horses. It's Junior/Mott here & Gilded Bandit has won 2 of 4.
If Obliteration is ready he will blow away this field.

Got 2 today @ Saratoga in Race 9 the Amsterdam

To reset expectations, it was a 4 horse field & he won @ 3/2 but I think the turf comments where special because who knew that other than the owners & Weaver. I put him my stable & will post it when I see him entered on the turf.
I mentioned earlier in the meet that George Weaver is a cool dude like trainer Kelly Breen & that he's sneaky good. He has another 2 year old first timer in Race 6 #9 McMoon ML 8-1.
Trainer Rudy Rodriquez got his 1st winner @ Saratoga today. Maggie Wolfendale asked the owner Anthony Beadnell if his winning colt You Are My Suzie was special & he named him after his daughter who had died. The poor dude broke down & couldn't continue the conversation. Even Rudy Rod was about to cry.
I believe many female trainers are overlays on the tote & I always take a look. Recently Cherie DeVaux, Jena Antonucci & Brittany Russell have all won bug races but the top female trainer ever, Lind Rice is ice cold going 5 for 50. Normally she wins a 23% rate. So I think she may be dangerous with her best yet to come.
As I type this, Rice won the 3rd race.

In the winners circle after the race Maggie Wolfendale asked trainer George Weaver about his winner. He said when the race came off the turf he was going to scratch out of the race. But he took another look at the competition after all the scratches & said he didn't have to beat much (which is a helluva shot others entered in the race) so he decided to run. Then he says he's really a turf horse & that's where he wants to run him. I thought that was a special little nugget of info because who else would know that other than Weaver & the owners & a few who work the colt etc.
