Derby Picks to Win

Final Gambit 30-1 Risking $50

Luxor Cafe 15-1 Risking $50

These names have come up quite a bit in my research and since it’s going to be wet and muddy it’s pretty much just a guessing game at who is going to win in my opinion so I want two high odds guys.

The other horse I was debating was Baeza but his odds have already dropped to 12-1 so that’s a no thanks from me and there is no way I’m being the sucker that puts money down on a 3-1 Journalism on a sloppy muddy track haha.

Like both of those. In fact I was thinking Luxor Cafe will finish 3rd just like another Japanese horse from last year Forever Young. Granted we are at the mercy of the pool, but I would guess a show wager on Luxor Café could return somewhere between say $8-10 dollars.

Would not surprise me if he came in higher.

Final Gambit has some closing times  (final 100 yds) that make you double check your stopwatch . Don’t remember the exact times, but they were definitely under the time you’d want for a derby winning horse. Ruby Stakes while a slightly suspect field was eye catching.

Yeah I really really like Final Gambit the most of all the horses personally. Love his closing speed like you mentioned. Plus he’s grey and easier to see during the race lol. Getting older and those numbers keep getting smaller year after year.

Taking a shot with #5 American Promise at 20-1 ML. He's been laid off for a while, but his Virginia derby win was spectacular. Horse is also trained by 89 year old D. Wayne Lukas who knows how to win triple crown races (Won the Preakness last year with Seize The Grey) and would make for a nice ending to his HOF career..
