In any event witht he field that seems to be gathering for Belmont 2011, this is shaping up to be a terrific race!
SO HERE IS MY QUESTION , Cappers and Cappets>...what does it take to win the Belmont?

That Secretariat clip actually brings a tear to my eye. Such a stud. Balls of steel with the personality to match. Just makes your skin tingle watching him dominate. Those two races by Afleet Alex were epic as well. First he almost falls and wins....and then he just dusts the field at the end in the Belmont.
"Afleet Alex went by Giacamo like he was standing still." Just awesome stuff.

Hey Atlanta,
How r u? Have not been here for the longest. Especially since my employer blocked the site. lol.
Glad you still around. Felt myself lurking to see if I can get some knowledge here. Haven't realy played the ponies much lately myself.

Right now I am on AH and M of H....however, Brilliant Speed is most intriguing. I like the way he finished his Derby (7th place) and less than 6 behind while charging. I like Rosario, who has the big cajones in the big races, the Albetrani and Dynaformer angles.
Atlas makes some good points on his negatives, but he looks to me like he might go all day long and will easily handle 1-1/2 miles.

That secretariat video also put a tear to my eye. Remember as a kid in the living room with my deceased father and family watching the race on a black and white tube tv.
Wow! How years go by. I am blessed.
Btw, comes to tell you how long this race is. It was a two horse race midway through the race and Secretariat still managed to win by 31 lenghts. amazing

I always avoid the short price on these races. I feel like if I hit. I want to hit big.
I have completely eliminated Animal Kingdom, Nehro and Shackleford.
Master of Hounds is an interesting horse. I am just concern on his travels. Not only coming in from Ireland. But from barn to barn.
I like Santiva. He has breezed three times and I like the idea of the horse bein ridden by an experienced jockey. Ala, Shaun Bridgemohan. Yeh Man!
Brilliant Speed was another interesting look. But, the fact that he never won on dirt and both jockey and trainers are rookies to this track makes it difficult for me to pick.
If Mucho Macho could keep his damn shoes on. He may have a nice shot.
I doubt any horse on this card is going to win taking the early lead. I'm going to risk my chances on horses that are coming from the back of the pack.
I expect the first quarter to be slow.
Of the three shortest price horses (Animal Kingdom, Nehro and Shakleford), I believe Shackleford has the worst chance.
Animal Kingdom has been impressive in the first two legs. However, I expect a letdown in this race. Racing three times in a short period is very gruelling. Thats why we see very few triple crown winners.
Something tells me there will be a different horse crossing the wire in this third leg of the triple crown.
So, with all the tidbits and analysis. I'm going to box Mucho Macho Man, Santiva and Master Of Hounds.
Hopefully, if the top three fall out of the race. I may have a nice shot.
