Which Truck Would You Buy?

I'm looking to buy a used truck and have decided I want a GMC Sierra 1500 4X4 and it must have a V8. Those are really the only two must haves I want on it. Which one would you buy if you had a choice? Would you buy a 2005 GMC Sierra in mint condition and only 33K miles on it for $16K? Or would you buy a 3 or 4 year old truck for $22K-$24K with similar mileage? Buying a new one at $40-$50 grand is a bit out of my budget and not an option.

05 Sierra is nice but prefer Ford 150 Supercrew for the money.

I had an 05 vehicle and just bought a 2016...  so many changes in the technology.   If the 05 is that nice and was in good weather it's worth it if you like it.   After 7 months of my new ride, I don't miss my 05 though.....

05 advantages are classic low mint miles, low taxes, low insurance.

I had not considered low taxes and insurance. 

Truck buyers have strong opinions - but I think you are making a great choice buying a used GM truck.  They run great.

 Low miles or not, $16k is too much for an "05 GMC.........you should be able to work that down to around $10k

GM makes excellent trucks so good choice.  I would buy the 3-4 year old newer truck just because the gas mileage gets better each year and the technology also gets more advanced.  Have fun with you new truck

If this is through a dealer, you will also find they will want an outrageously high down payment on the older vehicle.  They will also "hold" that truck until they get the buyer they want who will pay the ransom.
