10-15 minute drive to the strip. Nice area, nice golf courses. Not far from Red Rock which is a nice, off strip casino.
You could end up next to quite a few old people though. Might not be ideal if you're trying to host parties.
There is a new shopping center that opened up right next to Red Rock that has some restaurants and a really nice movie theater that has recliners for chairs and a bar inside. I almost never go to movie theaters anymore but it was a nice experience.

I live in SW Las Vegas now. Russel and Fort Apache area. We rented our first condo when we were in our twenties just off of Town Center and Covington Cross in Summerlin. Beautiful side of town. I loved it there. Just drove through their last week and everything still looks clean and new. Little pricey but worth it.

Summertime they beg you to play - $30-50. Wintertime they rape you $80-$200. Residents do get a good break though.
Loved The Badlands in Summerlin until Troon sold it 6 or 7 years ago, it's becoming a dog track. Friend of mine there said the property was sold to a developer, could be history soon.
