Now NY finally woke up ,Of course daily fantasy is gambling ,Dfk and FD are more of a problem with integrity of the sport than if sports betting was legal ,These sites boast of paying out 2billion dollars a year ( and that&#x27;s just Fan Dual) it is so much easier for a player ,coach,or ref to take a payoff  just to allow individual players to have or not have great stat days, It&#x27;s much easier to tell Player A just let player B catch 8 passes , you don&#x27;t have to throw the game ,you don&#x27;t have to  make sure your team don&#x27;t win or cover ,you just have to miss a few balls in the air on defense , Or the ref can keep the flag in his pocket on a judgement call.  Either way it&#x27;s so much easier to fix a individual  for a player stat ,than fix a game .    It should all be legal Poker Sports betting and Daily fantasy ,, Or all ill eagle

What really gets me is the entire hypocrisy of the industry and the players involved. These people will swear up and down that it isnt gambling because its a game of skill. First of all, there is more luck involved in picking 9 individual players than there is in picking one team against another as in sports betting. Secondly, you are not guaranteed to win. You are betting that you can make a better lineup than the next person. Any time you bet money to make money, and that bet is not a guaranteed thing, that is the essence of the word gambling. But these people, if you read what they say on Rotogrinders, they will swear up and down that since it has been deemed a game of skill, that it isnt gambling.

What you have there is a bunch of hypocrites. For many of them, this is their only form of gambling, and when it does fall, they will be twitching to find something else. Lets face it, if you dont believe DFS is gambling, then you are either and idiot or just plain stooopid. Either that or a liar. I have been saying that for years, and that was why I was kicked off the RG forums, as they did not want anyone to say DFS was gambling on that site.

With Nevada's decision a month ago saying it is gambling, other states are going to start to follow, and you are starting to see the slow demise of DFS. I tell ya what, I enjoyed playing while I was able to, but now I am going to enjoy more watching it fall, and watching all the hypocrites go into a panic about what to do next.

I would say there is a lot less luck with picking the players. It is easy to pick the better team to beat another team, but picking a team to cover the spread is almost by definition a 50/50 proposition (because the book is smarter than you).

With fantasy, you compete against other players, so you only need to be more skillful picking players than your competition.

it is the same difference as making ATS bets with a book vs being in a pool where everyone makes 5 ATS picks a week and the winner at the end of the year gets everyone's buy-in.

imho it is no doubt gambling, the point is that both sides are hypocrites, the GOVERNMENT just wants their cut of the money, and using bully tactics to get it and come off again as big brother mentality they are looking out for your well being, yeah right, when in fact it should be a free choice to gamble or not, the folks at the sites are hypocrites in that they know this is gambling and trying to pass it off as a game of skill, please you are insulting all of our intelligence, that said again we should all have the free choice to participate or not and that is the real problem, the Gov taking away our rights and freedoms as Americans is bad for everyone no matter what side you are on

Of course it is gambling and the only people that say it isn&#x27;t gambling are the owners of the site (they want to make money) and the lawyers for the site because they want the site owners to keep paying them.  There is no definition anywhere that would say this is not gambling.

In answer to thorpe, when you pick 9 individuals, if even one gets hurt early, or gets sick, or just has a bad day, you are almost totally screwed from winning a DFS contest, whereas, if you have that same team that that player is on, you still have a very reasonable chance of winning the game. DFS is way more of a gamble than picking a team against the spread.

Gov't wants their action...they should get it.

I am all for the regulation of the site. For all we know they could be adding ghost teams and submitting all the early players that have big games and taking back the pot. After all for any gaming to be legal in the states the prize needs to be declared before anyone can register...so DFS stats the prize pool and then takes registration... That's how poker is able to hold tournaments...only when the prize is declared prior to the first registration.

Regulate it and keep it around...do the same for poker and MJ.

If anyone recalls the online poker days, then it&#x27;s very similar in how it played out and will play out.If you have money left in honest sites, go all in or pull it out immediately. Like NOW!!!On the stance of government intervention, well that&#x27;d just society. I can Smoke weed freely in some states and be a criminal in others. There are brothels and red light districts in some places, and police stings that humiliate you in others. You can buy all the booze and cigarettes you want but you can&#x27;t get some decent blow. Liberty is not necessarily true of America.What to me is perhaps the most ironic part is that they were under the radar for several years. And now they blitz like crazy with the ads and with that follows a scandal! They would be better off squeezing a nickel off a guy every week than knock me out for good for a quarter.

I am for legalized everything to as long as the consumer is protected.  It is tough enough to win money betting sports with -105 juice.  Canada has legalized sports lottery and the juice is -140, and they take games off the board if they get too much action.I don&#x27;t know what the league rake is for Fan Duel, but I heard 20%.  If their employees are also using inside info to make picks, the rake is actually much higher.I would like to see fair lines with limited juice and arbitration available if a book cheats you or slow pays.  IMO you will only get that with USA government gets involved.  But if they want to turn it into a lottery (which is 50% juice) then I am not interested and I prefer it the way it is now.

That sounds goods on paper but in reality consumers will constantly be cheated.   I would prefer to have the government investigate and regulate then spend all my time researching companies I buy a product from.DFS and sports wagering is most like stock trading ,which is heavily regulated, because of things like insider trading and pump and dump schemes...
