Club--Do you think this is one of those social issues where it matters who the "fifth" vote is ? A fairly high percentage of Supreme Court decisions are not 5-4 and I could see a decision in this type of case where the Court sees it as more of a federal powers/business regulation type of case where you could possibly see more agreement among the justices. I could also see a new DOJ saying we should just leave it to the states.
Then again, maybe I'm just full of sh!t.

ken, i really haven't been following the gambling legalization issue very closely. i'll read an interesting article here and there but that's about it. so, i really don't know.
gambling seems like a pretty simple political ideological issue to me. let adults do what they want with their money and keep the government out of it other than to take their cut, which we can't avoid. plus, the government has no ability to stop people from gambling so move the f*ck on to something more productive. this should be an easy one for any true conservative. but like most things, money and lobbying and special interests complicate matters.
it'll be interesting to see what the new administration's view is.
