I discovered best way on picking the right tickets to buy. Go to your state's lottery website and go to the scratch off section. There they list the prizes won per ticket and how many prizes per ticket are to be given out. Doing the easy math you can decide on which ticket is more expected value.

$50, the lottery is the biggest waist of money.
I used to work at a Liquor store that sold tickets. We had an employee that would just rip them off the spool and scan them to see if they're winners. One slow day he left an IOU in the register for $240 for all the losing tickets he scanned.

One of the biggest scams ever pulled on people. First up, they are not giving out the money they should be giving out or else you would be seeing millionaires all over the place.
Lets say a 10 ticket has a million dollar first prize and the odds of winning that prize is 3 million to 1, This means for every 3 million tickets they print up, they have to put a million dollar winner in there. Now with the amount of tickets being sold on these things, you should be seeing millionaires all over the place, but you dont.
Secondly, the lottery knows exactly what store has a big winning ticket in it, because its part of their security and knowing the ticket is real. They know exactly where all the winning tickets are. So think about this, in this day and age when our whole society is filled with people just trying to scam the next person, do you really think the people who know where the winning tickets are, really arent telling family and friends to go buy them at certain stores. Please, this is a no brainer.
Isnt amazing how you never read about the salaries of people running all these lotteries across the country
I wish some news organization would expose all the lotteries and people running them for the scam they really are.
All these lotteries were supposed to pay for school taxes,
Billions and billions are being stolen by the lottery crooks.
Look at the powerball and the greed that lottery has. Used to be able to play a set of numbers for a dollar, but that wasnt enough, they raised it to 2 dollars for 1 set of numbers. Shame on these evil corrupt dirtbags.

We used to live in NY and I drove to work in PA daily...both heavily saturated lottery states (and amazingly both heavily saturated welfare states )
)Mega Millions twice a week in one state and Powerball twice a week in the other. Had to be in all the work pools "just in case" and of course had to have my own 5, 10, 20 or...worth for myself "just in case". Oh and yes those colorful scratchers hanging from the reels just calling my name..
Moving to a non-lottery state is the best thing we ever did for our finances. Amazing how we were able to pay off our debt and save up for a house so quickly once we got away from that stuff.
Oh and $150 was the most I ever won on a scratcher...out of 8 Billion spent or at least that's what if felt like I was spending.
