Maine’s largest dairy farm will soon have Maine’s first natural gas digester that is fueled solely by cow manure.
In a ceremonial groundbreaking at Flood Brothers Farm in Clinton Wednesday, representatives of Summit Utilities, a natural gas company, said the digester will receive manure from a half dozen dairy farms in central Maine.
The manure will be heated to produce biogas, which will be cleaned and pumped into Summit’s pipelines.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of passing by a large dairy farm with your cars windows down, it is an absolute must bucket list just to understand how cow shit air can actually choke you out and make you dry heave. It gets a little better a few miles down the road but the smell actually lingers in the car like a run over skunk.
this is renewable energy to the max extreme. There has to be a better way, this place will smell up the whole state and wherever is down wind of the shit reserves. They are going to stockpile from 6 other dairy farms. Even driving behind one of these shit hauling 53 foot tractor trailers is enough to cause understandable road rage. Mainers are Maniacs

Ok stay away from hill road in Clinton Maine is gonna get ripe.... This process contains the methane and places in a natural gas pipeline instead of in the air.
This reduces methane emissions and that's the stink in farts.... The processor is extremely useful tool in containing the methane that will be emitted cause America is hooked on cows milk....
But you diatribe reminded me of an uncle in Connecticut who visited often... We took up upper street turner he was a suit and tie fellow...all he could stammer for the five miles was ain't it ripe here ain't it ripe......
Thank you for the memory.....

This project will cost $25 million or more and never pay for itself. First the manure must be heated to 99F to produce the gas. Then a good sized portion of gas produced is used to heat the digester continually. There should be leftover gas for public use but the cost of building and then running the digester prohibits any payback.
Nevermind that, government grants in play here and it just so happens Peaks Renewables, a Summit affiliated company run by Angus King III, spearheads the project. King is son of US Senator Angus King- Maine, and served as an assistant to Chief of Staff to Bill Clinton.
So government (taxpayers) money will fund most of this project and a Senator's son benefits. Business as usual.
No private entity would ever invest in such a losing proposition.
Mercaptan is added to gas for smell.

Regardless of that am radio fox news... Or the morons on msnbc.
I live in the greatest country on earth.
We produce the most oil.
We creature most individuals with net worth over a million.
We habe the most free soiciety.
Greatest opportunity for any family coming here as immigrants to become substantial members of a capitalist society. We have the greatest university system to promote excellence and with a mere 6% of the entire worlds population a government that has existed for a mere 245 years we create stability in this world.
We are not a slave nation serfdom is apart of a world we push to change.
Our women are revered the same as men. Inspire of the continuous struggle we live here in a constant strive for perfection are we perfect no but as close as we get and we can see we are the greatest this mason experiment based on illuminated principals . that we as humans are equal. No one is better than anyone. No king ships or priesthoods or ruling elite mean any more than any bum walking the streets.
We are together America. So I challenge you walk out your door and witness something good. Maybe a flower garden in trinity park Dallas ft worth, maybe a a bird eating the food you bought at your feeder. Possibly a beach scene with men and women so scantily clad this is obviously not a church with pews. But look around fellow humand... It really ain't that bad.....here.

As far as thread 99 degrees... Well its that today. Maybe they paint the top with tar and attract the heat needed for the digest or to produce methane we gonna need to heat our homes this winter...

Maybe this cow manure digester will have better luck than the Jay, Maine wood pulp digester......
Digesters can explode if outside air gets in. Very rare but when it happens look out. I once worked for an organization that had a feed line leading to the digester rupture. The contents in the digester began draining back out the break and the digester developed a vacuum inside and was in danger of imploding. Outside air was let in to stop any implosion. Now the internal gas in the digester had oxygen and was explosive. One static spark and kaboom! They had some very tense days ahead as they removed the explosive gases.
Digesters are great for producing energy but there are dangers and it is very expensive to build.

Yes initial costs are inflated as the technology continues to evolve
And this practice advances between model prototype into existence costs and safety concerns will be marginalized.
This is the bases of corporations.
They achieve a product and then find innovation to produce the product inexpensively to maximize profits.
With natural gas approaching 7 a gallon this is very profitable at today's expected costs. But the same principal can be utilized in modern sewage treatment plants and other biodegradable food wastes.
It is possible with the adaptation of the digestor in modern-day sewage applications
Sewage and safety can be addressed without direct release of the natural occurring methane directly into the atmosphere with sink pipes....
