Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face, a boxer once quoted, meaning have a backup plan in case stuff, life, or unseen adverse events happen.
Today has been that day.
I got a call about an amendment to a septic system plan 24 hours ago. The amendment was written by civil engineers at a well-known college, but it needed a site evaluator's signature around 4 yesterday
. Most offices were closed. I have sand, gravel, an excavator, and products ordered for field replacement.
So I waited until 7 to call the site evaluation person. He stated that the new system I trained for is not acceptable due to its recent development; the system has only been in existence for 5-10 years.
The soil and approximate distance of river from the site meant he needed the Eljen system,
his experience of systems lasting 20 years or more. Incidentally, the system was created in 1970 for use in flood zone applications. So I called the firm that referenced the site evaluator and civil engineer team that drew the amendment to the system. They are booked until July. Meanwhile, I have the unapproved system on route to the site. The truck left at 7 with the AeroFin system
. I had to cancel the order and find a replacement company.
Eljen system was ordered,
And I went to get licensed;
it was late, around 9 am.
Eljen Distribution did not sell pump reservoir stations. So I called and reordered that part
. She won't deliver, but I can pick it up.
So I have the excavator, sand, gravel, the system, the pump, the design and installation course menu, and the certification for AeroFin and Enviro Septic and Advanced Enviro Systems, which used different products for containment. Why the certification classes? So I can be certified to install Eljen systems in Maine, New York, or Pennsylvania.
I went to Windham and gave a check to the lady for the invoice and copies made
. DMV was a no-go; everyone who needs a Real ID must make an appointment or prepare to wait for the day as everyone with an appointment cuts infront of you .
Eljen certification has begun. I have the other certification when they become necessary.
And I have learned 3 systems; might as well make it 4.

And I will begin the septic system on time.
