Gambling isn't a strong enough drug for what yanks on you.If you can get off by making mind bets with your nose up CG's rectum then that's a cheap date but that doesn't cure your bends.

I'm in a similar situation.  I've been gambling for 15 years almost every day.  I'm 27. More than half of my life I have been doing the same things your doing.  Not getting sleep, constantly checking spreads and scores, getting high and then getting low after blowing all the money I won.  I've repeated this cycle thousands of times.  No matter what I tell myself it never changes.

I've been dating a girl for almost a year now and she could tell that I was gambling and that it was creating problems.  I've realized that my relationship and future with her, my family, and friends is much more important than gambling.  It's pathetic to constantly be refreshing your phone to see if some 18 year old scrub made a free throw in the last second of a college basketball game.  That garbage will give you a heart attack, create anger, and drive you to make some pretty terrible decisions.

Find someone or something worth stopping for, distract yourself. Stay busy when the games are starting and delete all your sports apps.  Get a new hobby.  It's really hard at first, (first few weeks will be torture).  You are essentially going to go through withdrawal and have the urge to deposit again or get that last bet in.  Stay the course and take it one game at a time.  Realize losing money and time at such a young age is a crime.  Maybe when we are older and more established we can get back into this and have some more wisdom and self control.

It's been almost a month for me and I don't really even think about it too much anymore.  It gets easier and easier with each day.  Another good solution is to bet futures.  Take a couple of teams to win the NL or world series or march madness and just keep track of that loosely.  No need to over commit or spend too much time watching or getting into it.  The action should be enough to hold you over while you are getting your life together.

Good luck and I know that if I can do it, so can you.

futures is a good call for those wanting to take a step back but remain somewhat in the game. I agree with mclatchy and can relate with the ups and inevitable downs most of us degens have faced over the years. Is the entertainment value worth that many hours spent capping/watching/refreshing these games? Refreshing your phone 50 times during a date/ family dinner can be misconstrued as rude. Ego/Greed...........I'm better than steve stevens I can make a living doing this stuff (mb with sound money management I could do this 7 out of 10 seasons). Problem is those 3 losing season could get me in the red quick if I got wreckless and chased like a banshee. Throw in a few local books, credit cards, loans, etc and one season could blow you out of the water for years. I'll always remember that spring I had over a 1/4 mill in my 5dimes and heritage acct tho. Worth it I'll be back in paradise shortly. good luck to the rest of u

futures is a good call for those wanting to take a step back but remain somewhat in the game.

Quitting cold turkey is the only way to do it IMO. Personally, I can't take a loss, so if I have a thousand in my account, and I lose 20 bucks, I'll try to win it back. Plus 20 bucks isn't even enough for me to even care about a game.

If I were to bet now, it would only be straights, and it would have to be a play strong enough to at least warrant betting $500.

Guada, you don't really want to quit yet, no matter what you say. It's kind of like when a smoker says "Yeah, I know, terrible habit. I need to stop one of these days."

Yeah, they know it's bad for them. But they really haven't taken any steps to stop. If you're really saying "okay last deposit" x5, you really do have issues.

Usually it's just the first week or two that's bad. Gives you the shakes a little bit. But once it starts getting warmer, there will be more stuff to do. You can put it behind you, but remember to stay strong when football starts.

You cant quit its in the blood. You need to just become a better handicapper so that you won't lose too much money.
