    Hello!

I have added the tennis game in to my routine to have good body and some fun. Recently, i played with my family friends and got ashamed. Because all of them were supper and they played so good. But I was not able to do this.

Then i promised myself to be the master of this game.

How will I be able to make this happen?

    What strategies  should I implement?

How old are you? Hard to master a game like tennis over night, or at an accelerated age.

I grew up with tennis. I learned that by out hustling everyone, I could gain an extra 5-10 points a set. In order to out hustle, you need to get your feet set right before a shot as much as possible (ideal is like same stance as hitting a baseball).

Then after not playing tennis for a few years, I got a job where my highest level boss wanted to play. He beat me badly the first nine times.

After losing the first time, I was embarrassed. Living in a small town with nothing to do, I started:

    - going for a run

    - doing 100 serves a day, 4x days a week on an empty court

That allowed me to get my serve back to an accurate serve with a little spin at 70 to 80 mph. I won the next 20+ matches against that boss until he was no longer interested in playing. He could return about half of the serves, but then my athletic ability gave me the edge on those plays.

Another tip: find a wall, and practice your backhand. Tennis requires a much fuller backhand swing more than racketball, so to get a good high velocity backhand you need to really get those feet set. An accurate backhand shot will save you a lot, and I mean a lot, of grief in tennis.

And if none of this is making sense, find a tennis coach and pay $50/lesson for three lessons:

    general principles lesson

    serve lesson

    backhand lesson

The key to a good tennis serve is a musical count in your head of 1+2+3+. Timing is king. If you perfect that timing, you can have a 70-80 mph serve that will be problematic for the average amateur opponent.

    @Sidehatch

Oh and don’t worry about trying to hit a one handed backhand. There’s no shame in hitting an accurate two-handed backhand. Learn the two handed backhand

You need to move based on the bounce of the ball, footwork is always first so that you swing low to high and at your waist. If you swing high or up near your shoulder area as a beginner it isn’t going to work

You need to move based on the bounce of the ball, footwork is always first so that you swing low to high and at your waist. If you swing high or up near your shoulder area as a beginner it isn’t going to work

He’s right, that stroke generates more accuracy and topspin

That is quite helpful for me to know. I would like to ask you what if i buy one the tennis machines? I have no idea which tennis machine is good to buy. I gone through multiple blogs to choose one of the best tennis machines.

If you know about tennis ball machines. Kindly recommend me that. If you don't have any idea about tennis machines kindly read this blog and recommand me any one out of these machines.

I don’t think you need a tennis machine. What would be better is someone to rally with once a week for 45 minutes. That’s way, way more fun than a tennis machine, and you’ll become a better player for it too.

Also take 2-3 lessons from a local teacher.

All that stuff will cost less than a tennis machine anyways
