Apparently there is a scientific short answer to the hiccup problem.

Hiccups occur when your diaphragm muscle, located between your heart and liver in the center of your chest, becomes "short-circuted" by a controlling nerve.  How does this happen?  Can be from many reasons.  Safe bet my symptoms were triggered by me drinking an entire 1.75L of Seagrams VO between 10am and 5pm.
