Number one step -- take time off. Take it one day at a time. Wake up in the morning and say "I will not bet on any sports today" or "I will not gamble today". Tell yourself "I may do it tomorrow, I may do it two weeks from now, but I'm not going to do it today". It's amazing how freeing that can be once you go through a few days without having to compulsively check scores, worry about the lines, check the board, etc..

One day at a time. Maybe tomorrow, but not today.

if you bet online, contact the websites and have them disable your accounts.

if you can't deposit, you can't bet.

you also need a new hobby, something to take your mind off sports.

I wish you best of luck

commit to a new hobby or two.  bet on those hobbies as you would sports.  this is a mental disturbance in life, you will have to trick yourself out of it.  lay off drugs and alcohol, turn off the tv, don't sleep until you have convinced yourself to quit gambling.  if that doesn't work then tell your closest friends and family and have them physically beat some sense into you.

    Good luck Kuddish.

I have no advice for you because I just am not an expert - but you have been around here a long time and I respect you.

    It will all work out.

Support your local animal shelter. I am on twitter.

    I second this.

I hate trying to give advice for something I have no clue about so I won't even try. I just hope everything works out for you.

Professional help is the way you need to go... don't stop at anything shorter than that...especially if you are having suicidal thoughts.

    KUDDISH.....

everyone handles it differently, ive been through it for drugs and alchohol, and attemped for gambling,   best thing to do is go to a gambers anonymous meeting where you will find people that were in the same situation as yourself, that you can relate to and that you can learn from. GA meetings are very common if you do a search online you can find one in your area, i used to get high, drink, and gamble almost every day for over 10 years, i cut out everything except gambling because i never really wanted to stop gambling, but i only gamble occasionally now .

    good luck

Hang in there Kuddish. Been exactly where you're at brother in many ways. Gambling is serious chit boys as you know and can lead to depression that's very dangerous and intense.

Rest and heal K - you'll be alright. Need to talk, get hold of any of us anytime.

    1. Airbet. Bet with points only.
or 2. Give your self a maximum bet of $1.

You like an ATS, just bet $1. If you like a Moneyline, just bet $1.

Better to slowly lose than to lose big.

Anyone that has knowledge or experience with recovery from gambling disease.

I don't.  And I just try to make it a practice to not give advice when I don't know what I am talking about.

But I certainly don't blame anyone who does.  I was simply trying to tell Kuddish that I support him and wish him the best.

Support your local animal shelter. I am on twitter.

I quit cigarettes about 3 months back, and the way I did it was to just "mess" with your brain by switching your daily activities up to break up your neural-pathways (look it up if you don't know what those are). Brush your teeth with the other hand, put on your clothes with the other hand/foot first. Do something completely abnormal for you when you first wake up and when you are ready for bed...

Just switch up your routines, cause they all lead down the same path with the same thoughts and feelings.

Best of luck man, you are a champ!

I'm not a doctor... and I don't know of any great recovery institutions out there. But what would happen if you found a passion and imersed yourself in it. I mean to the point where IT became an obsession. And you actually found a way to make money doing it. Maybe $1,000 per week... maybe $10,000 per week. It doesn't really matter because you'd be doing what you love, and you'd be considered by many to be an expert to the enth degree. The go to the guy. Nobody's better. Helping people is the greatest thing in the world and provides more satisfaction than perhaps anything. And if you can somehow incorporate that to some degree, you'll have more self worth I think.

I don't really know dude I'm just throwing some ideas out there. I feel your pain from reading your post and I wish you the best of luck. But seriously... finding a passion might change everything for you. This one guy I read about would sit in a room. No lights. No sound. And when he came up with an idea to his problem, he would turn on the lights and jot it down. Why is it that you like to gamble so much? Is it the thrill? Is it purely the hopes of getting on a hot streak and winning lots of money? Is because you see it as a form of entertainment? Ask yourself that question and others like it, and maybe you can figure out an alternative hobby that replaces gambling that fills the same psychological needs. Again man... just throwing things out there.

Don't ever give up. Ever. Too many people love you I'm sure. Don't be ashamed to ask those close to you for help. That's what they're there for. This is exactly what best friends and family are for. To help loved ones through problems and tough times. Don't be ashamed of a problem that millions others have. It doesn't make you a loser. Or strange. Or weak. It makes you human. Get off Covers and talk to someone that cares deeply about you. Someone you can confide in.

Good luck man. Keep us posted.

You were talking about killing yourself all the time a few years ago Tox so you should have let him know that. <<<

I had 2 avatars with guns to the head. Not sure which one you're referring to. Yeah, I've been where he is between gambling, drugs, money, box, and alcohol I've taken a beaten over the years. I'm the kinda guy that likes extreme highs in life and if you do something long enough an extreme low is usually right around the corner. I gave my best advice. Not sure what's so ironic?

You went to Vegas by yourself looking to meet people from covers with the Escalade you rented. If I was you I would've pulled the trigger years ago.
